Frozen Reptile Food

There are many benefits to feeding frozen, thawed rodents over live to your reptile. Frozen rodents are free of parasites that could cause illness or injury to your reptile. Frozen rodents also do not have the risk of biting your pet which can lead to severe wounds and possibly infection. Frozen rodents are also easier to store, so you can buy multiple at a time and keep frozen until used instead of making a trip to purchase a live rodent for each feeding.

FAQs About Frozen Reptile Food

Frozen rodents are farm raised and free of any internal parasites, mites or ticks. Feeding frozen, thawed rodents also removes the risk of your pet being bitten by a live rodent which can lead to serious wounds and infection.

Rodents fed to snakes should be the size of 1 - 1.5 times the widest part of the snake's body. Rodents fed to lizards or other reptiles should be no larger than the space between their eyes.

Frozen rodents should be warmed by a heat lamp or warm water, and never microwaved. Once they have completely thawed and are warmed appropriately, you can use tongs to place the rodent in with your reptile, or dangle in front of them to simulate movement.
