Is Frontline Plus bad for dogs? Do potatoes cause heart issues?

For most pets with a history of pancreatitis, most flea preventives are considered safe. Frontline is likely a good option but remember that individual sensitives can always happen but are unexpected. You may double check with your normal veterinarian as well just to play it safe. Unfortunately no one knows for certain right now. The concern seems to be with diets containing potatoes or legumes as a main ingredient, and this diet does have potatoes early in the list. It also seems that dogs that develop heart disease and that are being fed these diets have low levels of taurine in their blood, but at this point it isn't entirely clear if the diets are deficient or if there is something else going on that is interfering with the dogs' ability to absorb the taurine. I would recommend talking to your vet about options - if Brody has a medical condition you could discuss an appropriate alternative or potentially even check a blood taurine level and echocardiogram to look for signs of heart disease. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Noah. Frontline Plus only has medication for fleas and ticks. It does not work on heartworms. So this would not be an effective means of treatment. I hope this information helps!

Hi and thanks for your request. The combination between Trifexis and Frontline Plus is safe and possible. Frontline plus is a fairly good repellent for ticks. Make sure you use it at the right dosage and with the right posology.

The difference is that Advantix kills and repels fleas, ticks and mosquitoes, kills lice and also repels biting flies. In comparison, Frontline kills but does not repel fleas, ticks or lice and has no effect on mosquitoes or biting flies. Now, that being said, I've also had many cases where Advantix treated dogs still came in with ticks on them and dogs with Frontline had less occurrence of this happening. The spray is for spot treating and is different than using the monthly preventive. Either preventive is fine to use. If you notice ticks still or fleas, then switch to a different product would be my recommendation. I hope this helps!
