If the food is full of mouse droppings it is best to purchase new food ASAP. While treats can be given, they are not a balanced diet, and a new food should be purchased and given as soon as possible to avoid any illness or GI upset. In the future, placing their food in an airtight storage container made from plastic can help prevent rodents from getting to it.

It is OK but it is not the best. I prefer Zupreem or Marshalls and they are about the same price for the same weight bag of food. It is better to spend money on higher quality food and less money on treats and toys and other accessories. I am happy to read he is behaving normally. Continue to monitor his behavior for symptoms of illness. Lovebirds can eat a variety of seeds, fruit and vegetables. These include banana, apple, pear, grapes, squash, cooked pasta, potato and corn. Limit fruit as it can lead to loose stool. A commercial pelleted diet should be fed and supplemented with a fortified seed mix. Stay away from mushrooms, chocolate, avocado, fresh/raw tomato and diets based solely on seeds.

AT this age, he should be weaning. Begin introducing a pelleted diet, about 1/4 cup daily to start. Harrison's, Roudybush, Lafeber or Pretty Bird are excellent brands. You may still need to provide supplemental feedings. Monitor his weight closely. You can also offer fresh greens and vegetables as well as a seed mix such as NutriBerries.

Thanks for reaching out. There are several brands with good quality nutrients and research. Roudybush or Harrison's are brands that most avian veterinarians approve. Look at the ingredients listed to make sure it isn't heavy in fillers such as corn or wheat. Transitioning to pellets is sometimes difficult but highly recommended. Pellets should not be the sole diet, but should be used to supplement fresh vegetables, a vegetarian protein source and other vitamin sources. Good luck
