Gabapentin and amantadine can be given simultaneously, as there are no interactions between these drugs. They work quite well together to manage cases of neuropathic pain! Make sure to follow the dosing instructions from Kitkat's vet closely. If you are questioning the efficacy of Kitkat's medications, consider discussing alternative medication options with her vet.

Hi there. Yes, you should be able to get it compounded into a flavored liquid (like chicken or fish) if this would be easier for you to give. You may have a local compounding pharmacy that can do this, or you can use an online pharmacy like Wedgewood or Vets First Choice. I would recommend calling your veterinarian tomorrow to talk about this - he/she should be able to tell you where you can have this done, and can write a new prescription for the compounded medication.

I'm wondering if Portifoy is on aripiprazole or Abilify, and if this is causing adverse signs due to serotonin syndrome. I can't find any information on dosing in cats, but I would imagine that like most antidepressants hyperexcitability might be a symptom. Amitriptyline is another common medication that is used as an antidepressant in situations like this that can cause odd behavior. I'd recommend talking to your vet about whether or not you should continue the medications. While gabapentin can cause sedation I think it would be less likely to cause these symptoms.

Hello, Yes, this drug can be prescribed to be given orally to cats for the treatment of herpes. I'd recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian to discuss the best treatment plan for her. Special pharmacies can make oral medications in cat-friendly flavors, like tuna, and this can help make the medication experience much easier. Sometimes this disease is still going to require eye drops as well though. I'd recommend trying to train her and make the eye drop experience better with positive reinforcement, treats, toys, etc to maintain this condition best over time. I hope this helps. Hello. 5 mg a day is a relatively low dose, so you can wean him pretty quickly. Decrease the dose by 50% ( 1/4 tablet ) for 2 days, then 1/4 tablet every other day for a couple of doses, finishing with 1/4 tablet every 3 days for a couple of doses & you will be safely done.
