After receiving authorization from your vet, simply select your prescribed medication. When you select "Add to cart", enter your pet and vet information, and place your order. We will take care of reaching out to your vet for the authorization.

We are required by law to know your pet's medical issues, allergies, weight, breed, and age as it is necessary to ensure safety in dispensing prescription medications for your pet.

Yes, all prescription items require authorization from your vet. We will contact your vet on your behalf via fax. If we don't receive a response we will call them. We will make 3 attempts to reach your vet. In the event we don't get a response after 10 days, we will unfortunately need to cancel your order. A Customer Service Representative will then reach out to you to determine next steps.

All prescription items are marked with an "Rx" logo beneath the price listing.

Just like with one time delivery orders, you will need an active prescription from your vet within the last 12 months to order a pet pharmacy (RX) item on repeat delivery. Once you've found your pet's prescription, from the product page, use the repeat delivery drop down to select your desired shipment schedule, then select "Save with repeat delivery". Fill out your pet and vet information. (*Tip: Ensure your logged in to select any saved pet profiles.) Once you've completed your order, please allow 5 - 10 days for us to contact your vet, get approval, and deliver to you."

Refills can be ordered automatically by scheduling repeat delivery. For medications, you can view and order refills for prescriptions previously ordered on Petco.com by signing into your account and navigating to My Pet Prescriptions. Here, you will be able to view your active prescriptions. Simply click "Order refill" to add your active prescription to cart. Prescriptions, including refills, are fulfilled by Express Scripts Pharmacy in partnership with Petco.

If you are ordering your refills through My Pet Prescriptions and no longer have refills remaining, simply add the item to your cart, check out, and we will contact your vet for approval. If you run out of open refills on your pet's prescription and a repeat delivery order is scheduled, please allow 5-10 days for us to contact your vet for approval. If your vet approves, you should receive a ship notification. If your vet does not approve, you will receive an order cancellation notice via email with reason for cancel. If your order is canceled for vet not approving, you may need to see your vet to renew your prescription. Prescriptions, including refills, are fulfilled by Express Scripts Pharmacy in partnership with Petco.

Yes, you need a Petco.com account to order refills. Refills can be scheduled through repeat delivery or ordered as needed in My Pet Prescriptions in your account. Refills ordered through repeat delivery can be managed in the Repeat Delivery tab of your account, where you can adjust frequency, skip, or cancel. Refills in My Pet Prescriptions can easily be re-ordered by selecting "Order refill". Prescriptions, including refills, are fulfilled by Express Scripts Pharmacy in partnership with Petco.

Yes, for the best experience and to avoid delays in shipment you will need to have open refills available on your pet's prescription.

Yes! If you have multiple medications for different pets, you will need to create individual pet profiles for each pet. Please be sure to select the right pet profile for each prescription item to avoid delays in processing.

No, when you place your order we will contact your vet to validate the prescription.

Usually, prescriptions are processed by the pharmacy within 2-4 business days after the prescription has been verified by your veterinarian. The order will arrive 5-7 days after vet approval.

On the bottle label, you will find the number of refills remaining and “reorder after” date. If you no longer have the bottle, please contact Customer Service and we will be happy to help you.

We require someone be available to sign for refrigerated shipments as it is important that refrigerated prescriptions are placed in refrigerated storage immediately upon delivery. If they are left out, the product will spoil and a refund will not be issued.

Check for an expiration date printed by the manufacturer on the bottle or box, or on the pharmacy’s label. Speak with your pharmacist or veterinarian if you have any questions about the safety of the medication. If the validity of any medication is in question for any reason, properly dispose of the product rather than risking the safety of your pet.

Your veterinary clinic can help you determine the best way to dispose of medications in your area. Our veterinary hospitals within select Petco stores will accept expired or leftover medications and dispose of them properly for you. More information on proper disposal of unused medicines can be found on the FDA website.

If you notice your pet behaving abnormally after taking medication, contact the veterinarian who provided the prescription right away.
