Buyer Beware
Buyer beware. I purchased this model a few MONTHS ago for a 55 gal saltwater tank in a high school marine biology classroom and I loved it. Yesterday, I cleaned the filter for the second time and the flow control valve sheared off making the entire system unusable. After setting up a make shift pump system to keep my temperature at 54 degrees Fegihrheight, I went on an internet quest to purchase a Penn-Plax Cascade 700, 1000, 1200 & 1500 Canister Filter Replacement Flow Control Valve Set (CCF210). NOTHING is available, every source is sold out. I cannot find a way to call the company to request a replacement part and I do not have a warranty for the 1200 system. The threads on the system are not universal so the parts we purchased from the local hardware store are not compatible to get the system up and running again. I am now using the rest of my limited budget to purchase another filter system from a different company. Luckily, a community partner had an over the back of the tank filter I can use for a few weeks until the new system comes in, which I cannot order until next week with a PO. I live in a very remote area and the nearest pet store which is small and does not carry specialty parts. I really liked the filter system but cannot recommend as it broke shortly after I began using it, I cannot find parts anywhere, and I cannot contact the company. Note: my sister has this same filter in her school and hasn't had any issues so I may have just gotten a faulty control valve but the fact that I cannot get or find a replacement part makes her nervous. This not only cleans our tanks but it pumps water through our chillers to keep marine species alive.
No, I do not recommend this product.

So far, so-so
Bought this several weeks ago to replace my Fluval 406 for my turtle tank. So far it hasn't lived up to expectations. Doesn't filter fine particles very well and I have had to change water and filters several times. Seems I made a mistake buying this. Will give it a another month.
No, I do not recommend this product.
