My puppy is biting his penis and it's getting scabby. Is this normal?

This presentation could be due to a trauma and localized secondary skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. Bleeding from the penis indicates a serious problem. In an unneutered dog, it could be a prostate infection, enlargement, or tumor. Some other possibilities include a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, or a systemic bleeding problem (coagulopathy). I suspect that his paw biting is unrelated and may be due to allergies or a hot spot, but he should definitely be seen by a veterinarian to determine the cause of both issues and come up with a good treatment plan. Causes of licking the prepuce/penis area could be a urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine, stones in the urinary tract, or trauma to the area. It is important that you make an appointment to have Mako seen by your veterinarian as soon as you can to help determine the cause of his behaviour and to start treatment. If you notice him straining to urinate/unable to produce urine, this is a medical emergency and he should be seen by a vet immediately. I recommend you put an e-collar (cone) on him to help prevent him from biting/licking at the area as this may help reduce the risk of infection

Poor Prince! He sounds like he's quite uncomfortable. If he's licking and chewing after he pees then he could have a urinary tract infection, prostate infection or cancer, kidney infection, or bladder stones. The best thing to do is to book him into see your regular veterinarian. They will be able to do an exam, a urinalysis and possibly X-rays or ultrasound to figure out why Prince is so uncomfortable.

That is red and swollen! Rocky will need to see a vet for this. Tonight, put an Ecollar on him to keep him from licking and biting the area. You can make one at home or buy one at a pet store. Have him seen by a vet in the morning.

I think its reasonable to monitor it for a few days; if it is not resolving, get him in to see your vet. Also place an Ecollar on him to prevent him from licking at it. The first thing you need to do is put a cone collar on him to keep him from continuing to lick the skin. He has scrotal dermatitis (an infection of the scrotal skin) and no matter what you use to treat It with, if he just continues to lick, it will not get better. So, get the cone collar ASAP and then apply this Vetericyn spray (linked below) to the affected area 2-3 times per day. If after about 5=7 days of doing this, it is not better than you need to have him checked by your vet.
