My 5-month puppy is licking his swollen foreskin. What should I do?

You can start by bathing that area with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula to soothe the skin. You may need to place an E-collar on him to prevent any further licking. If these measures do not help, then he will need to see his veterinarian. I hope this information helps!

This is, unfortunately, a pretty serious problem. I would say it is an emergency and he should be seen right away. If the tissue gets too compromised it may need to be amputated. I suggest you put some vaseline or other lubricant on it right away and then get him to the vet.

Yikes! That is very inflamed and I agree that it looks swollen. I recommend to get an elizabethan collar for him and make sure he wears it tonight while you are asleep and any time you are not directly watching him. Licking it may make it worse. As long as Scooter will tolerate it, you can gently wash the area with soap and rinse it well. Applying a cool (not cold) compress may also bring some relief to him. Do this a few times through out the evening. You can apply a dab of coconut oil on the area and rub it in gently. Make sure Scooter does not lick this off as it may upset his tummy. Poor Brownie! Yes this looks inflammed and painful. I recommend using a cone to stop the excess licking of the area and taking him in for an exam of his penis and a urinalysis. He may have a urinary or prostate infection, or an infection in the sheath or on the penis. I don't want this to get worse and him to get dehydrated from not eating or drinking so please get an exam soon. Ouch, poor Issac! It looks like that could potentially be a growth of some sorts, but without seeing him in person I can't say for certain. He should see a vet for it. The vet can diagnose what is causing it and how best to treat it. In the meantime, to keep him from licking at it, I would put an Ecollar on him. This looks serious enough to take Grayson to a veterinarian. Try to see your veterinarian tomorrow, or take him to a pet ER. This looks seriously infected/inflamed and Grayson will need pain medicine and likely a prescription antibiotic to alleviate the swelling and infection. Make sure he cannot lick his prepuce and penis (either with an e-collar or a snug fitting t-shirt) as licking will introduce more bacteria.

The first thing you need to do is put a cone collar on him to keep him from continuing to lick the skin. He has scrotal dermatitis (an infection of the scrotal skin) and no matter what you use to treat It with, if he just continues to lick, it will not get better. So, get the cone collar ASAP and then apply this Vetericyn spray (linked below) to the affected area 2-3 times per day. If after about 5=7 days of doing this, it is not better than you need to have him checked by your vet.
