My dog got Zipyran. Can he still take tapeworm meds for UK travel?

Cestex is a perfectly good tapeworm treatment. At the appropriately labeled doses, most pet deworms are very safe. If you haven't already, I would consult with a veterinarian on starting the health certificate process. It can take several months to complete any necessary testing and getting the paperwork all lined up for international travel. And you will likely need a veterinarian's record of a medication prescribed for Henry for treatment of tapeworms.

Duke likely has tapeworms, and that requires praziquantel to treat. Praziquantel is available by prescription only from the vet. Unfortunately, piperazine doesn't kill tapeworms, only roundworms. Hello. There are wormers available over the counter that will take care of tapeworms. Make sure the product contains the ingredient praziquantel, or you can pick up SafeGuard canine wormer at Petco. If you want to be sure of what you might be seeing befors giving Poppy any wormer, you can always take a fecal sample to your vet for analysis. The most common tapeworm is flea transmitted like you discuss. There are over the counter medicines and the drug you would want to use is called Praziquantal. The medication to kill the whipworms will not prevent heartworm or fleas/ticks and therefore he will still require the monthly preventions. Kisses to Kirby!

Hello and thank you for using pet coach. Tapeworms are typically treated with a drug known as praziquantel. The drug that we use at our Clinic to treat tapeworm is called drontal Plus. Only a single dose with drontal Plus is typically required. A follow-up dose 1-3 weeks after the initial treatment may be given if needed. I hope this helps! The dewormer i usually recommend is called Drontal plus, bear in mind that unlike the flea/tick products, dewormers do not protect your dog from future infestation, it only kills the worms on spot. for fleas and ticks i usually recommend Bravecto tablet or Advantix spot on. all these medications are considered to be high quality and safe.
