My Golden Retriever bred. Is she pregnant? What signs to look for?

Hello, I do see that her nipples and mammary glands are more developed in some of her pictures. Pregnancy in canines can range between 55-65 days and development of mammary glands is most noticeable towards the end of pregnancy. Based on what I’m seeing there is a chance she could be pregnant, however you’d be able to confirm this with an X-ray or an ultrasound. I would recommend having her evaluated by your veterinarian when possible to confirm she is pregnant and ensure she is in good health to undergo a pregnancy. Hope this helps and best of luck.

If Goldie was around an intact male when she was in heat, then yes she could be pregnant. It could also be she is suffering from a false pregnancy, which is when a dog shows the signs of being pregnant without being pregnant. I'd have her checked out by a vet this week to determine if she is pregnant or not. Best of luck.

Hi, if she was pregnant and lactating it should be quite obvious by now because it would be the second half of her pregnancy. Unless she is just expecting 1-2 puppies then her abdomen would not be much different, however it is unusual to have 1-2 puppies only. Lactation could also occur with phantom pregnancy. In order for you to be sure, best to have her checked over, if she has puppies, your vet might be able to check them with the ultrasound and see if they have any major abnormalities. Unfortunately there's no way to tell for sure at home. I would certainly say that Zaria appears to be either obese or pregnant, and given that she has mammary gland enlargement as well as being overweight I'd bet on pregnancy, especially if she's been around an intact male. But the only way to tell for sure is to take her in to see her vet. Very rarely we can palpate (feel) puppies but the best tool is x-ray - an x-ray taken of her abdomen at this point would likely for sure reveal puppies if she's pregnant.

There are certain physical signs that a dog is pregnant, such as an enlarged belly, enlarged nipples, increased appetite, lethargy, firm abdomen, and nesting behavior among others. The best way to know if Gypsie is pregnant, however, is to have her seen by a vet. The vet can do a blood test, x-rays, and/or ultrasound to confirm if she is pregnant. Veterinary care during a dog's pregnancy is quite important, so she should see a vet as soon as possible. If she is far along enough in her pregnancy, the vet can use x-rays and/or ultrasound to tell you how many puppies she is carrying.

That's quite early for pregnancy to show any signs, so I would be inclined to think the lethargy could be due to something else other than pregnancy, such as an illness, especially if there was no tie. I would monitor Bella for now, and have her seen by a vet if the lethargy continues. I would also have her spayed. If you have not seen a veterinarian since Peach was bred you should definitely plan to have her examined and make sure she is in good health - you can also discuss what to watch for during labor and what to do if there are problems.
