Why is my cockapoo's mouth swollen, crusty, and painful?

I would recommend taking Rozzi to a veterinarian. I would call yours in the morning. It is difficult to say definitively what is going on but from the pictures it looks like a potential tooth root abscess. A tooth root abscess can appear as one side of the face or mouth is swollen. The way to treat this is antibiotics, pain meds and pulling the affected tooth. If the swelling gets worse overnight then I recommend an emergency veterinarian for a possible allergic reaction. Roxie may have gotten bitten or stung by something to cause that location reaction which can be painful. An infected tooth can also cause a swelling in the area. If she is eating and drinking well and acting normal otherwise, then keep her quiet tonight and have your vet check for dental disease tomorrow. If she is lethargic and the swelling gets worse, than I would have her check at an ER tonight

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. I would recommend having this examined by a veterinarian. This type of swelling we can see with severe tooth root abscesses. It is likely reksio will need a course of oral antibiotics and an anti inflammatory. I would get this seen sooner rather than later as this type of infection will conti i.e. to grow bigger until the infection is treated and the tooth removed that is causing the problem otherwise, this can rupture through the skin and he will be left with a large wound on the face. It looks like a hot spot (moist dermatitis). Your veterinarian should examine Roxy to confirm the diagnosis. Place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent pawing or rubbing. The e-collar may keep your other dog away from it as well. Ideally, the area should be clipped and scrubbed by your vet. Topical and/or systemic antibiotic treatment may be indicated.

If you believe Roxy Bree is having these types of medical issues, she should be seen by a veterinarian some time soon for assessment and treatment. The difficulty swallowing is somewhat troubling especially, and not something I would wait on for very long. It could be caused by a mechanical or structural problem that requires correct, or via an inflammatory process that requires a medication. Hope this is helpful.

Poor Pancake! Have her examined first in the morning. It's possible she has an infection or is having an allergic reaction. At home, applying a cool (not cold) compress the the reddened areas may help her to feel more comfortable. Keep her from licking the feet since this may make it worse. You may also apply a dab of coconut oil to the red areas and rub it in well (it may soothe the skin). Your veterinarian will be able to provide medications that will work much better. She will need treatment as well for the underlying cause. I hope she feel better quickly.

Breathing from the mouth is very concerning and is a sign of possible heart disease or failure, and this unfortunately is common in Honey's breed and at her age. It is hard to tell from the picture, but if the facial swelling is of the skin and is around the eyes and the muzzle, this could be a bug bite and you can try an anti-histamine. You have to be careful with human drugs as any product with a 'non-drowsy' can be very toxic and fatal in dogs. I would suggest calling your local emergency clinic or vet to get information on over the counter drugs available in your area. Benedryl and Reactine can be used, but you have to make sure it is the right version without pseudoephedrine. If Honey is unable to breath, seems distressed, or if her tongue looks blue at all, then you need to get her to a vet right away. Best of luck with Honey, I hope she feels better soon.
