My dog licked a small amount of chocolate cake batter. Any concerns?

Glad to help you! Thank you for giving me Doug's weight and approximate amount of chocolate he ate. With his weight and the amount he ate, you will see minimal to no reaction. There is a potential for an upset stomach, but it's not likely, and Doug should be just fine :-)

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I’m not terribly concerned about this. There is not enough chocolate to really affect a dog this size. Possible concerns would be an obstruction from the wrappers if he ate those too OR pancreatitis flare up if there is alot of fat in those cakes. Otherwise, I’d monitor for vomiting and diarrhea. As long as he is eating and acting normally, there is little cause for concern. Best wishes to you and Manson.

At this stage I would not be concerned. If the chocolate is milk chocolate, which it appears to be in the picture, and Melo only licked and didn't ingest any cookie he should be fine. Signs to watch out for; Shaking Vomiting Restlessness Seizures Collapse As I mentioned though, I am not very concerned at this stage. Hello. I do not think this small amount of chocolate will harm Twix. It would take at least 4-6 ounces before clinical signs would be apparent in this large a dog. If this was only a tablespoon or so, he will be fine. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

No need to worry! Licking the wrapper won't be enough chocolate to cause Hazel any problems. Even eating a bit of the wrapper is not a worry. This should dissolve in her stomach acid and pass without issue. You don't need to do anything. I hope this helps!

Hello, and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The main concern in chocolate is the cocoa itself, and there is very little cocoa in white chocolate. I don't see in your profile what type of pet you have, but if it's a dog or cat they will likely be fine. Watch for signs of GI upset, as that can happen with any kind of new food (especially with higher fat content) but I suspect they'll be fine. However, I would recommend sticking with healthier treats to share with your pet and keeping ice cream and chocolate for yourself :-) Hope this helps!
