My dog has diarrhea & vomiting from new treats. Bland diet failed.

If she is bright and alert and willing to eat i recommend feeding small, bland low fat meals and offering pedialyte and also fresh water to reduce the risk of developing dehydration. If she is restless and reluctant to eat she should be assessed by a vet. Obstructions, impactions and pancreatitis are all relatively common after breaking into the treat jar!

Dove may need some antibiotics and/or probiotics to help get her gut balance back in order. In the meantime continue feeding her the bland diet and yes, I would cut out the treats until the diarrhea resolves completely. I hope this helps. If he is acting normal then you can withhold food for 12 hours and then offer him a small amount of a bland diet, like boiled chicken and white rice, and see how he does with that. You could also add a probiotic to his food. If the diarrhea continues, he starts vomiting, and/or becomes lethargic then he needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. He could have an infection, parasite, colitis, HGE, etc. and your vet can run lab-work to help diagnose and treat. Hope he feels better soon!

Hi there, it sounds like they both have a touch of gastroenteritis which could have been picked up from the water or because of the new tests upsetting their tummies. I would starve them 24 hours then feed plain chicken and rice for a day. If they are getting worse go to the vet. Try and avoid letting them drink water outside from now on.

Poor Buns! I would take him into the vet to get checked out. It could be a change of diet causing his symptoms if you are feeding him something different from what he had before. Regardless, because he's been having these symptoms for a bit, it's time to see a vet. I would take him into one in the morning. Best of luck.

Poor girl. This certainly sounds like an upset stomach situation. You can try a few things today to see if she improves. 1) Bland diet- boiled plain chicken or lean ground turkey and white rice 2) Probiotic- over the counter Culturelle from your local pharmacy can help restore the normal GI flora 3) Fiber- add 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) in her food daily As long as she remains active, does not start excessively vomiting and still has a good appetite, you can try these things for the next 24 hrs or so and see if she gradually improves her condition. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor guy! Pancreatitis can cause vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia and belly pain. It is a cause of vomiting and diarrhea but it isn't the only cause. Other causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, toxin ingestion, IBD, food allergy/intolerance or reaction to eating something outside or a new treat/food/people food. Since he has been low grade vomiting now for 2 days it is best to have him seen soon if it continues. It is encouraging that he is eating. I would be sure you fasted him for 12-24 hours then resume feeding with a very bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Make the meals very small. Only offer small amounts of water. If he is lethargic, won't eat and the vomiting continues even on a low grade scale he should be seen before the weekend. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!
