My cat has a small cyst. Can natural remedies help it go away?

Unfortunately, there is no home remedy that always works. If it isn't bothering her, it isn't ruptured, and it isn't growing, then I would honestly just leave it alone. Sometimes the more you mess with it, the more likely it will get infected and rupture. You can try the turmeric in her food, but a lot of dogs don't like the way it tastes. I would stay away from castor oil as I have seen dog get an upset stomach from it. If it starts to bother her or grow, I would talk to your vet about having it surgically removed as this is the best long term option. I hope this helps!

You can apply a warm and damp washcloth to the area, which will help the area continue to drain. Gently trim back Hocus's fur, and clean the area with antiseptic soap. I would not put any antibiotic cream on it. Although quite safe on superficial wounds, cats groom and ingest most of the topical ointment you apply and therefore should be used only under direct veterinary supervision and if there are no other appropriate options. Many human ointments contain multiple other ingredients which are not necessarily safe to be swallowed. I would keep an Ecollar on Hocus to keep her from licking at it, and keep her indoors if she is allowed outside. Monitor the hole for signs of infection, which include redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, and pus. Should you see any of those signs, I would take her into the vet as she will need antibiotics to treat the infection.

Poor girl. Yes this looks like a possible cyst that may be infected, hence the yellow crusting seen there. Typically cysts or masses can become itchy if they are pushing on a sensitive nerve or if they are infected. Have your vet take a look at it and it can likely be drained to remove the discomfort it is causing. If it is indeed infected then the vet can prescribe a short course of antibiotics to treat it. If the cyst keeps refilling the only real option to treat and totally get rid of the issue is to have the cyst surgically removed. HI there. If the cyst isn't bothering Fi, I would recommend just leaving it alone. Attempting to drain it yourself at home may be painful for her, and could introduce infection and create a problem where there isn't one right now. If it starts to bother her, I would suggest taking her back to the vet to have it rechecked, and see what he/she recommends.

The cyst was actually an abscess or pocket of puss from a cat scratch or bite. I'm glad it is draining as it will heal quickly now that the infection is coming out. I would massage all of the infected material out of the wound then clean the area with hydrogen peroxide. Then apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. Keep it clean and treated daily and this should heal in a few days to a week. Since it's draining a veterinary visit shouldn't be needed unless it fills again and Salem stops eating due to a fever.
