Where to draw .25ml cat arthritis medication on a TB syringe?

This depends on the solution you are injecting AND the graduations of the syringe. Please repost with images of both and your prescription so we can help with this. Please do not administer any medication until you are sure of the correct dose as both over and under dosing could have side effects depending on what you are using

1 mL is 1/5 of a teaspoon. Depending on how much you were giving him this may help you extrapolate. You could also find a neighbor with young kids and see what tools they may have in their medicine cabinet! Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

Poor Maggie. I think there has been a misunderstanding. They probably gave 20mg (milligrams) which is equal to either 0.5mL (milliliters) or 1.0mL of depo-medrol depending on the concentration your vet carries. The general dose that most vets use is 20mg depomedrol per cat every 8 weeks as needed. I seriously doubt anyone would give 20mL of this drug. Also, it could be wearing off quicker if there are more allergens causing her skin to act up. With it being the changing of the seasons, this very well could be the issue. Also make sure she is on a high quality flea preventative. One flea bite can cause a major allergic reactions in cats with her problem. If she needs another depomedrol shot, I would talk to your vet and see if they would be willing to repeat the injection as early as 6-8 weeks during high allergy season. Cats are very sensitive to pain medication so only use it if it’s been prescribed by your veterinarian. Giving omega 3 supplementation wiill help reduce the pain and inflammation from arthritis. Switching to Hills J/D diet, a prescription cat diet formulated for cats with arthritis helps also. In addition I find massage, laser and acupuncture to be effective for pain relief without medication. Also CBD oil can reduce arthritis pain. Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Cutting a pill into 1/5 has got to be very tricky even with a pill cutter! I would recommend consulting with Meg's veterinarian about getting her on a different medication that is easy to dose and doesn't require splitting the pill into small pieces. There are a variety of pain medications out there and available for arthritis that are much better and safer to use than paracetamol such as Rimadyl, Galliprant, or Previcox. I would ask your veterinarian if Meg could be transitioned over to a better alternative. I hope this helps!

If the insulin and syringe is U40 then yes, 5 should be 5 units (it is important to use the same graded syringes and insulin as this would invalidate the graduations otherwise). Blood glucose should be checked resting and fasting as a meal or strenuous exercise will affect readings - a schedule of timings before meals/exercise should be arranged in order to compare readings. Changes the the dose rate given should be made only in consultation with the treating vet - we are not legally in a position to prescribe medication as the animal must be under the direct care and supervision of the prescribing vet in order to make these decisions

Unfortunately, there aren't any over the counter medications that are safe for pain in cats. Even Tylenol could be deadly. My concern is that this may not be arthritis. Arthritis can be hard to diagnose in cats, and is often underdiagnosed, because they are so good at hiding the symptoms. Other disease processes, like kidney disease, liver disease, or masses in the abdomen can also cause similar symptoms. I would recommend saving up some money to have Lil Miss examined by a vet.
