Can I bury my pet bird in a plant pot? Will it harm the plant?

Updated on September 23, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | 6 years and 1 month old

My dear budgie has died. He has a friend that I am keeping a close eye on. As it was only 24hrs we lost Barney, his brother is a little lost and quite today (as am I ). My question is: Can I put my boy in a large pot and add soil to plant a scrub for him? Would his de caying body damage soil for a plant? Any help appreciated.

So sorry to hear of your loss of Barney. That is just terrible.

To answer your question directly, yes. His body will do no damage to the plant. I think that would be very nice for you to do.

Take care.
