What's in Gentacalm spray for my pig? Why does it smell like alcohol?

Updated on September 23, 2025

Pet's info: Farm Animal | Pig | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 13 days old

I ran out of gentacalm spray for my mini pig that was perscribed because every time we tried to put it on she would run away so we sprayed a lot. What exactly is in it? It smells like alcohol.

Gentacalm spray contains an antibiotic (Gentamicin), steroid (betamethasone), and yes isopropyl alcohol is in it to. Other ingredients it has are propylene glycol, methylparaben and propylparaben as preservatives, as well as purified water.
