I recommend purchasing a basket muzzle either from amazon or from your local pet store and scheduling an appointment with your vet. That much thick nasal discharge definitely indicates either a bacterial or viral respiratory infection that can possibly lead to pneumonia (expensive/difficult to treat and possibly life threatening) if not treated early. Your vet may write a script for Xanax and dispense trazadone to be given prior to the appointment. Good luck! Keno is a good looking shepherd!

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. It is difficult to say from the picture for sure what it is but I would suspect this to be mostly due to the dry nose. I would recommend using a product called Biobalm by Dermoscent. You can find this online quite easily. I woyld apply this 2 to 3 times daily and see if this helps. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would take Rem to the Vet. It could be a hot spot (superficial skin infection) or ring worm. They are treated very differently. Hot spots are treated with antibiotics and steroids while ring worm is treated with antifungal medication. I wish Rem the best!

Hi, and thanks for your question. This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or possibly to a rhinitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective). A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed.
