Training a new puppy can be hard work and I am going through this myself. Start by just leaving the collar on the puppy at first until she gets used to that. Next, attach a leash to the puppy, in the house and let her drag it around the house. Keep an eye on her at all times so she doesn't get snagged at all. Reward her with lots of praise and treats but do not hold the leash yet. Once she drags it around and runs around with it, start picking it up. Follow her around the house, tossing treats so she will get them. Do not pull her and do not try to make her go your way. Next, take this to the backyard and let her drag a leash there. Then start letting her walk around the back yard while you trail behind her holding the leash. LOTS of treats and praise for any forward motion. be patient! Try some squeeze cheese on a big plastic or wooden spoon to get her to move froward if needed. You can also get her used to a harness. For a puppy, or any dog, I recommend an easy on harness that the dog steps into and snaps over the back. For a small puppy, you could also use one that looks like a small vest as well. Use lots of treats and cheese to put the harness on so the puppy is not afraid and thinks the harness is good.

How lucky of you to visit Germany recently! I would check to see if it's possible to ship the ones you like from Germany to Bosnia & Herzegovina. I'm not very familiar with the inventory of dog harnesses in your country, and given that many things can easily be shipped, it might be the best idea to have the cute and comfortable ones you say in Germany shipped to your home :-)

From the perspective of him getting loose a harness could be more secure. I find, however, that this encourages them to pull more. I like the easy walk harnesses the best or even the gentle leaders. I would also recommend some obedience training as they can help you Willy off leash management

Yes you are correct a harness will help you assist her as needed. I recommend a Help me Up harness. These are well made and although costly are worth every penny. I like that you are keeping her up and walking to maintain her muscles. I prefer several short walks and often just around your yard or close by so if she's too tired to keep going you are close to home. If she's not on arthritis pain medication adding some may improve her mobility and comfort. As for the cognitive dysfunction I use Neutricks a supplement that I find effective. If Elie is overweight losing a few pounds will help also. In addition to walks she may be more interested in life if you work on teaching tricks for treats, doing obedience like heeling, sitting and downs and playing with toys or balls to keep her engaged. Having a senior dog is a blessing so make the most of your time together. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Elie.

Y-shaped harnesses seem to work best for dogs with cervical stenosis or recovering from head/neck surgery as they tend to wrap around the chest while avoiding the back of the neck while closing. However, if Jack tends to pull, do be aware that harnesses can make it easier for dogs to pull, so you may want to work on some leash training if this is the case. Other harnesses may also help avoid the neck area, you just want to make sure they fit more snuggly along the chest and sit over the shoulders or lower on the back to avoid putting pressure on the neck.
