Is seaweed dental plaque off safe for cats, especially their kidneys?
I would use this product only under the direct supervision of Sweetie's vet. The concern with seaweed, particularly in older cats, is that it is high in both sodium and iodine, which can exacerbate existing heart and thyroid conditions. I have not read any specific reports as to the effect of seaweed on the kidneys. The goal of this product is to keep tartar minimal on the crowns of teeth, but it does not slow or stop diseases under the gumline. As a result, I am not personally convinced of its efficacy.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! That is absolutely possible. I would stop this supplement to see if that improves. Hopefully, it does. However, if no improvement is noted, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck!

You may be able to order the food through Chewy.com for cheaper than other places. They often have discounts for your first order, which can be really great. I would not change the diet your veterinarian prescribed, as this will defeat the purpose of the diet trial! I hope this is helpful!
