That sounds like a good plan for the first couple of days of Lucy being home to help keep everyone safe. See the links below for more information, and congratulations on the new addition! https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=8569058 https://indoorpet.osu.edu/dogs/new_additions_dogs/intro-dog-cat

I wouldn't be surprised if a canine DNA test showed some Beagle or Dachshund in there somewhere. You will likely never truly know, but she is adorable. You can get a basic DNA test online or at the local Petco. A simple cheek swab submitted for analysis may provide at least an idea of what Lucy is. Good on you for adopting her!

I am going to assume Lucy is a dog, as I do not have that information here. My best advice is to bathe Lucy less frequently. Baths actually strip the natural oils in a dog's skin, which help maintain a healthy coat. If Lucy does get dirty on an outing and requires a bath, try to reward her when she is still and praise her verbally. Tell her "good girl" , "calm girl" and reward her calm moments. I would also try letting her air dry rather then blow drying her. The loud noise may be frightening her, due to her sensitive hearing. This is a great option for keeping Lucy still while you try to bathe her, it has built in restraints; http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=20500

The rear leg braces are not useful. If she needs assistance getting up I recommend a Help em Up harness by Blue Dog designs. Taking Lucy to a Rehab veterinarian would be good if there is one near you. They can give you exercises to do at home and they may offer hydrotherapy and other treatments that can improve her comfort and mobility. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You are likely describing teething which is basically a normal type of behavior when puppies are growing up and it is secondary to mouth discomfort as teeth are growing. I recommend that you get Lucy teething type toys which you can get at your local pet store or online. Anytime that he tries to nibble at you, you say no and give him the toy. This is likely going to resolve the issue. Puppies do tend to sleep for long periods of time and that is normal and expected so as long as she is not showing any other signs of being sick like vomiting or anorexia, it is ok to continue to monitor that. Good luck and have a great day!
