I would say probably around four weeks of age. It’s fine to give it wet food with KMR, and over the course of two weeks, decrease the amount of KMR and increase the amount of wet food until it is eating the wet food only. Best of luck.

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! I would find an "All Stages" food that all the cats can eat. There are many companies that make this kind of food that can be fed to adults and kittens. If you google all stages cat food some will come up. Below is a link for an example, not saying to choose this particular one. Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! If the kitten is 3-4 weeks old it can each canned kitten food. There are grocery stores and drug stores that are 24 hours. If it is 1-2 weeks older I would call an emergency vet hospital to see if they carry kitten formula that they will sell you. Otherwise the kitten can wait a few hours for the stores to open. https://kittenrescue.org/2017/03/raising-orphaned-kittens/

Hello, and thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Kitten food is actually more nutritious than KMR - KMR is really for those tiny kittens who are so little they're not yet ready to try solids on their own. So, if your kitten is willing to eat canned kitten food well, I would work on weaning her off the KMR. However, if she's refusing to eat anything for more than 1 meal in a row, then I would take her right in to your vet. Little kittens like Baby can get dehydrated and sick very quickly, so prompt medical care is important if she's not feeling well. Hope this helps!

Kittens do the majority of their growth in the first five to six months of life but continue to grow until they are around one year old. During this time of rapid growth and maturation of their bones, it is very important to choose a complete and balanced diet with the appropriate levels of nutrients. Diets formulated for growth include those labeled for kittens or “all life stages.” Canned foods promote increased water consumption in cats, and feeding dry food exclusively or in combination with canned is also acceptable. Offering a kitten with a variety of textures early in life can be helpful in minimizing the chance of having a picky eater. Regardless of diet selection, always make diet changes gradually by mixing the old and new foods together over five to seven days and make sure to carefully measure the appropriate portions of your cat’s food. Abrupt changes have a greater likelihood of resulting in vomiting and/or diarrhea.
