It can be very difficult to convince a cat that wants to go outdoors that it’s best to stay inside. You could look into an enclosure like a catio, or you could look into using a stroller or training Bookie to a leash and harness. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/cat/cat-furniture-and-scratchers/outdoor-cat-house/trixie-wooden-outdoor-cat-run

There are different products available online. Here are two websites that you can look at. You also need to look at your airlines specific requirements to make sure the product meets their standards. http://www.pet360.com/product/56464/petego-universal-sport-bag-pet-travel-carrier http://www.pettravelstore.com/petmate-airline-cargo-crate-small/

In my experience, a cat who wants to escape from something like a harness will eventually find a way. I do think that this type tends to work a little better: I also think training is very important: put the harness on for very short periods of time while offering food or a treat and gradually work your way up to longer time. If he starts to get upset with the harness training is over and you should take it off. All harness time should be fun! Once he seems comfortable you can then try adding a lead.

Hi, a good house for a cat outside is one you can make yourself. Buy a large plastic bin with a cover, and place straw inside, covering the bottom. Cut a square hold into it that is small enough so predators cannot get inside. A good website with instructions is here: http://www.humanesociety.org/news/magazines/2010/07-08/simple_shelter_design.html?credit=web_id212453451 . Add some rocks to the top so it does not blow away and there you have a cat home. Good luck, I hope this helps!

That set up looks perfect for Kitter. Thanks for including pictures. The reality is that cats sleep when we are at work, so my only concern at 14 years old is that he is able to comfortably jump up to the second level in order to access his bed. As long as he is able to make that jump easily, I think he will be very comfortable in that cage while he gets acclimated to his new home. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and answers your question. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
