My personal preference, completed unrelated to PetCoach or Petco, would be Cosequin ( http://www.cosequin.com/dogs/ ) or Dasuquin ( http://www.dasuquin.com/en/products/#dog ). Both are made by Nutromax Labs.

Osteo biflex can be given to dogs safely, but there are a number of products formulated specifically for dogs that work well, the best of these in my opinion is Cosequin. It's important to have him checked by your vet if you haven't already done so to determine the cause of lameness or joint problems so the underlying cause can be managed correctly. Your vet is also the best person to ask about the correct dosage of any over the counter medication you're considering giving your dog. Adding fish oil to his diet will help protect and ease joint pain and a product called Adequan, an injection available from your vet is excellent for slowing and healing arthritis.

I hate to hear Scrappy is slowing down. My top joint supplements are Dasuquin and Duralactin. Either one to start is fine. Putting him on an omega-3 fatty acid would also be beneficial. Just make sure to get a dog version as the human versions can have xylitol which is toxic to pets. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

I usually start dogs at risk when they are adults. I recommend Dasuquin Advanced. I would also start an Omega3 supplement to reduce any joint inflammation. Keeping your dog fit and lean is more important than any supplements. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Bella.

When I have patients with arthritis or starting arthritis I always recommend starting a glucosamine supplement. This can be bought over the counter or online. A great animal one is Cosequin. All the directions are on the bottle. This will help lubricate his joints. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
