Is Drontal Plus for dogs safe for cats? What treats cat whipworms?
Drontal, either Plus or without, is only for removal of worms after your pet has contracted them, it does not prevent them from getting them. If your pet is at risk of picking them up, because they're outside or hunting, then a regular dose can be helpful. The 22.7 mg Drontal plus is labeled for both dogs and cats.

Does Drontal for cats kill whipworms, or is another medicine better?
It is not listed to kill whipworm in cats, only tapeworms, hookworms, and roundworms. Your veterinarian can dispense Panacur (fenbendazole) to treat whipworm infection if indicated. Drontal plus will kill the above mentioned parasites as well as whipworm.

Can I get an affordable over-the-counter tapeworm medicine for my cat?

Outdoor cat eats rats. Best flea/worm prevention & heartworm test?
Cats do not require heartworm test prior to these medications. Drontal is a good idea to use with these as it covers tapeworms and those products do not. I like advantage multi as I feel it protects against fleas better

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. You can get a de-worming medication over the counter, for example Drontal for cats. If de-worming doesn't help, you will need to get Toothless to a vet to check his anal glands as the symptoms he is showing can be caused by impacted anal glands.
