Limited ingredient diets come with one major benefit - pet parents are able to identify exactly what goes into their dog's body and avoid any specific ingredients. While a suitable diet for many dogs, LID diets can also be great for dogs with food sensitivities.

I have had good success with the derma 369. If she has a lot of skin problems then I would talk to your vet about writing a prescription for derma strength pro. This one is a little stronger but is a prescription. I hope this helps!

It definitely is a balanced diet that is safe for long-term use. It is most commonly used in dogs with skin issues or food allergies, so if this is a problem that Kira experiences, it would be a great choice. There are also lots of great foods that are available to you. I have fed my dog Purina Pro-Plan since she was a puppy. She is now 14 and has no health issues! I would discuss the best option with your vet.

And thank you for your question! Hills Z/D is a great allergy diet. The way it works is that it is a hydrolyzed protein diet meaning that the proteins that normally cause allergies are too small to trigger the allergy with the hydrolyzed formula. Hill's Derm defense is a great food as well. The way that Derm defense works is that it strengthens the Skin Barrier and it has multiple antioxidants and phytonutrients period before switching to Derm defense I would suggest speaking with your veterinarian who previously placed Louie on Z/D to see if this would be a good switch. Some other things that help with allergies would include omega-3 fish oil supplements and essential 6 Spot On by dermoscent. Help this guide you in the right direction. Science Diet is an excellent food but as you have noticed their over the counter foods typically don't have fish. They do have a prescription diet with fish but it can be expensive. I included a couple links to a couple different types of food that contain Salmon. https://www.chewy.com/purina-pro-plan-focus-adult-sensitive/dp/128666 https://www.chewy.com/purina-one-smartblend-sensitive/dp/37688 Thank you for using PetCoach.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The diet I prefer for this is the one made by Science Diet called sensitive skin and stomach diet. However, what I have found the most helpful in reestablishing a nice shiny coat is using fish oil daily. You can get the commercial ones sold online or at your local pet store. This works great. Good luck and have a great day!
