Pain in the but to put together

Pet crazy 1986

This is a well put together cage I don’t find the doors small the bedding pan is well made. The only thing it’s a pain to put together. It took me 2 hours to put together I don’t like that everything is wire and it not good for rats I plan on covering them. Also my shovel does fit in so it will be easy to clean.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Bought item today. It's very difficult to level the shelves. Doors are small. Cheap made material. Would NOT recommend this brand.

Not impressed

I bought 3 of these cages had to bring 2 back because there were issues with the cage. I finally kept the 3rd one because I needed a cage and didnt have time to get another. I have had it 6 months and it's already rusting. One of the doors has to be held closed with a zip tie because it's too loose and I dont want my rat getting out. I'm not impressed. For the price I would order a nicer better powder coated cage that wont rust within 6 months. If I could return it and get my money back I would in a heartbeat.

No, I do not recommend this product.

There are a few major downsides to this cage: 1. The bottom is not removabale, making it difficult to clean. 2. The doors are too small for some items you might want to put in. 3. It is not on wheels, so moving it gets a bit tricky. 4. The latches are loose on the one I bought. Overall, this cage does its job. My rats seem to like it but I plan to size up soon. This cage would definitely not be my first choice, but it's good if you are on a budget.

Decent First Cage

I am a first time rat owner. I got this cage as my first real cage for my now two boys at the end of Dec. 2021. Setup took two people, which for me, is not ideal. Cleaning is a hassle, as it's either disassemble it or take the top off of the bottom and neither of those is as easy as it sounds. The top is unwieldy at best and a pain to clean, so it's gross on top of being hard to handle. My biggest complaint, however, is that it's not even been a year since my purchase and the ramps and ledges are already sagging. Due to space reasons, I'm unable to upgrade, but it's definitely on the docket for me. As a whole, though, this cage has definitely served me well as a first time rat owner. If it were cheaper, I'd definitely recommend it as a good starting cage.

No, I do not recommend this product.

This IS THE WORST item that I ever put together!!! I have put many, many things together having raised four children! I had to struggle with this cage before I could even begin to put it together as the opposing "J" hooks we're already hooked into the wrong spots as it was coming out of the box. I cut my fingers on the "Center Mesh Floor!" Taking this piece if trash back to the store! Worst purchase ever in the history of animal cages!!!! Waste of time!!!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Decent cage for price

This cage is pretty nice. The ramps have some really rough edges though. I plan to cover them. Instructions are not good but it’s easy to put together so it worked out ok.

Had to buy two of these as temp cages for two of my boys (dealing w aggression). their normal cage is the infamous (and amazing) double critter nation. I had seen this cage recommended for temp housing, and it's incredibly hard to find a cage with adequate space for rats that isn't $200+. (seriously the cages on the market for rats are disgusting). It's flimsy, a pain to assemble, and due to it being flimsy the bars bend easily. I can't even use one of the shelves in the second cage due to the bent bars leaving it i'll fitting. it won't attach properly and falls, so i don't feel comfortable housing my boy in there with a faulty shelf. it's not a huge deal bc i can fill the top half with hammocks and perches, but for $100? i don't kno about that. honestly can't wait to disassemble and store these away for dire circumstances.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

Why did the price on this cage increase so much? It says $174 now! That can’t be correct?

  1. Hi bria1993 Good day! The current retail is correct based on increased costs within the category. Thanks,

How many cubic feet is this?

  1. Hi Vee10, The dimensions on this are 16.5”L X 22.5”W X 32”H, or 6.88 ft³. Thanks,

How much does the cage weigh when collapsed?

  1. Hi manchita, This item weighs 16.5 lbs without packaging. Thanks,

Thinking of getting this as a "mobile" home for my rats (like, when I go visit my brother for Thanksgiving.) They (2 spoiled rats) have a huge cage at home. Would this fit in a cars back seat? And can you lift it "loaded"?

  1. It's too tall to fit fully assembled in a car.(possibly could fit in SUV) It's has handles to carry it, and can be carried but it's not an easy lift, it's pretty heavy.

Does anyone have exact measurements of the door size on this cage? Also, from the picture it looks like there are two doors on the front of the cage. Is that correct? Are there only two doors total or am I just not seeing the other ones?

  1. Hi taylud2008, Door dims are 7.5” x 8”H and there are 2 doors. Both are on the front side. Thanks,

So how does the bottom frame connect to the cage?

  1. There are 4 metal tabs welded to the bottom metal pan, 2 on each end. The wire cage slides under them one side then you gently push the other side inward enough so cage slides past and under the tabs. It's simple, but effective. I've had 2 rat manors over the last 7 years. I would recommend it.

Is it easy to clean?

  1. It’s easy to clean if you have like thick clothes on each level bc if you pet your pet roam it with out clothes then they can develop bumble foot ( really bad and painful for them ) other than that super easy

Does this fold flat if you remove the plastic bottom tray...sort of like a wire dog crate would.

  1. Yes.

Can mice use this as well or are the bars to far apart

  1. I don’t know but would think that a mice could slip through the bars on this one.

Would this cage be good for a pet squirrel?

  1. I think this would be a little small. Try maybe a double critter nation.
