Very roomy and lots of space for accessories. Ratties love it. Keep six females in it and they seem very happy.

I've been wanting to upgrade my chinchilla's cage to critter nation for some months now and finally got to it. Of course assembly took some time mainly because we didn't realize we put the base parts wrong at least a good few times. And it took a good while to get some of the parts in but all that aside it was worth it. Only current issue is that my chinchilla eventually decided that she should chew on the velcro holding the ramps causing all three to fall down. Might need to find a better clip or something for those but it's fine for now. After all she doesn't need them but she likes to run and jump up to the shelves. Overall I love this cage, there's so much more room now and it's easy to access. Now I just need something for the ramps and some more accessories. Oh and I did buy fleece liners separately since plastic would be too dangerous by itself.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Cheap parts, have had better cages for less.

Nice cage, poor craftsmanship which makes it harder to put together and not as sturdy as it should be. Sloppy welding in places blocks bars from sitting flush when screwed on, and sit at weird angles that don't meet the place the other side would connect. Some of the wire pieces had to be bent to make them fit. The doors don't fit correctly and keep popping out. For the money would expect better.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Awesome cage! I divided the cage for my cockatiel and my hedgehog. My hedgehog has the bottom half and does well, though he doesn’t climb up the ramp at all. My cockatiel seems so enjoy the cage too. The only thing is that since he is handicapped and can’t fly, he can’t get to the top of the cage and sit there on his own because the border is too thick for his beak to hold onto. Other than that great cage!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Over all, great cage but assembly can be a pain

For the size and durability, thia habitat can't be beat. However, the assembly can take a while simply because you have to figure out which parts are which. The directions mention labeled parts but the individual pieces have no stickers or tags indicating this. Also like most reviewers, I ended up with door latches that did not match up. In closing the doors, sometimes they get caught and have to be pushed in down or up depending on how they are off center to fully close. If the parts were labeled and the doors matched up, it would have made assembly a breeze and a 5 star worthy review.

No, I do not recommend this product.

His old cage was much smaller and was not very stable. We could hear him just about every time he moved. This one has much more room to play and is a lot quieter.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Has anyone purchased this cage for gerbils? We've always housed our gerbils in a glass tank and would like to give them more space. (I do realize the bottom would need to be modified to hold bedding) I want to get away from the heavy and cumbersome tank

  1. Depending on how big your gerbils are they might be able to squeeze through the wiring on the cage. The cage wiring is about 1/2 an inch spacing for each slit if that makes sense. I have a Chinchilla but I honestly wouldn't put anything smaller than a guinea pig in this cage.

How much does the cage weigh?

Can the middle platform (or any platform) be removed?

can i put 2 chinchillas in here im looking to buy some but i dont know if they can both be in one or if i have to buy 2 different cages

      1. I don't own chinchillas, but I did a bit of reading and it seems this cage is perfect for two chinchillas. It seems to be a bit over the required minimum for two. I have this cage and it is fairly large. So it should be fine for two but probably not three.

Will this cage work for a guine pig

      1. no, guinea pigs need at least eight square feet (for a pair). they do not make use of vertical space as they do not climb like other rodents, but they live to run and play in a long cage. i recommend the Midwest Guinea pig habitat.

Does anyone know how wide the spaces of the bars are?

      1. Approximately 1/2 inch.. I have had pet rats in there and they are perfectly safe with the spacing. Just don’t put anything like a mouse in the cage because they can squeeze through the bars.

Can a third add on, of the same brand, be fixed to the top?

      1. Yes, it can.

does anyone know how far this is off the ground

      1. About 4 inches, you can also lay it flat on the ground

I have 2 rabbits, both around 4-5 lbs. Would this cage be too small for the both of them?

      1. Actually, this is WAY too small, rabbits should not be kept in cages they should be in large pens or free roam. Please check out lennon the bunny on youtube for furter info. Thank you for owning two rabbits, too. They really do thrive with company.

My 2 rats chewed through the plastic on their current cage, which was a cheap Kaytee one (that now that I read the reviews, many others said the same thing happened to them). This is also plastic- will they chew through the bottom of this one too?

      1. The plastic trays inside are chewable, one of my chinchillas has destroyed the edges but not possible to chew through the bottom. We went to walmart and got some fleece fabric and I just made a pillowcase to go over it, it was super inexpensive. To keep her from pulling it off, I layered some stones that were to heavy to lift so she couldnt peel it back and chew again. I don't know if that can be applied to rats, but it worked for chinchillas. In my experience, this is by far the sturdiest and best cage I have been able to find and we've had chinchillas for years.
