Questions
Can this be mounted internally within an enclosure, attached to the ceiling of a PVC enclosure, or does it only work for screen tops?
- The light itself didn’t come with any mounting hardware. I suppose they just kinda wanted it to be laid on a mesh screen. I attached my own mounting hardware and hung mine over the tank and it does just fine. I will say the cable on this is very thick and rigid so wherever you put it whether you are mounting it or laying it on the top that cable is going to need to be routed carefully as it will easily push the light wherever it wants to. And as far as heat goes it does get a touch warm but nothing crazy so if I were going to mount it to a pvc ceiling I would make sure there is a 1-1/2 to 2 inch gap for air flow in between it and the top of the light just for safety sake. So if your basking spot is far enough away from the light with the air flow gap I don’t see why it wouldn’t work fine for that. Disclaimer I have the 14” version I don’t know if the longer ones are as cool as this one is. Hope this answers your question.
