Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this senior dog food for dramatically improving their older dogs' health and vitality. Most report picky eaters eagerly consuming every bite, with many noting increased energy, brighter eyes, shinier coats, and better mobility. Reviewers deeply value the high-quality ingredients, joint support with glucosamine, and digestive formulation that often eliminates the need for additional supplements. Many customers show strong long-term loyalty, having fed this brand for years. A small number experienced minor digestive issues during transition or noted kibble size concerns, but overall customers consider this a trusted, premium nutrition choice that significantly enhances their senior dogs' quality of life.

Larvae in the Food. A Sick Dog. $1,000 in Vet Bill

Ricky

I am extremely disappointed and disturbed by my experience with Wellness Complete Health dog food. My dog became seriously ill after eating a bag of this food that was visibly infested. I discovered webbing throughout the food, which was followed by larvae coming out of the bag. Around the same time, my dog began vomiting and continued to be sick for approximately two weeks. She lost a significant amount of weight and ultimately required two veterinary visits, including blood work, testing, medication, and treatment. My total veterinary expenses were approximately $1,000. I contacted the company and provided everything they requested, including photos, receipts, veterinary records, and lab results. I even authorized them to speak directly with my veterinarian so they could investigate the situation themselves. Despite all of that, the company ultimately denied my reimbursement claim and stated that they found no correlation between the contaminated food and my dog's illness. After making me go through the entire process of submitting documentation and providing access to my veterinarian, they sent me a letter denying the claim. What is most upsetting is that I expected a pet food company to take an incident like this seriously. Instead, after my dog became sick, lost weight, required veterinary care, and I spent roughly $1,000 trying to get her better, I was left feeling that the company’s priority was avoiding responsibility rather than helping a customer whose pet was affected. I trusted this brand to provide safe food for my dog. I no longer have that trust. I will never purchase Wellness Complete Health again, and I strongly encourage other pet owners to carefully consider this experience before trusting this brand with their pets.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Our mini-labradoodle passed just shy of 19 years, and his "sister" (mini-goldendoodle) at 17 1/2. They were fed Wellness Complete Health Senior Chicken & Barley most of their adult lives. We chose this for the caloric and nutritional profile, and the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory supplements. Obviously our pups enjoyed a lengthy healthspan on this diet!

New Kibble Regimen

Transitioning from SmartPak Canine to this kibble brand for our 10-year-old terrier, Della Mae, over 2 weeks was a smart move, as she has a somewhat sensitive digestive system. After a couple of days of soft poo, she is on the right track. Since she’s a natural foodie, there no problem with her chowing down on this brand. Of course, the SmartPaks are convenient and sanitary!!

Questions

1 - 4 of 4 Questions

what size for a collie pup?

  1. I would go for the stronger traditional type of Kong, this is too soft to last.

Is Wellness senior food 5k grain free?

  1. Wellness Senior is not grain free, it contains rice bran. The Wellness Simple Solutions line of foods is grain free, and so is their CORE line, but the CORE line has higher levels of protein and fat, if your dog isn't particularly active the CORE diet could make him/her gain weight. If your dog has dry skin or dandruff, try mixing a little salmon oil or cold-pressed, extra virgin olive into his/her meals. (about 1/4 teaspoon) Both are good sources of Omega Fatty Acids, which is known to help dry skin.

My 14 yr old Jack RTerrier, the Vet think she has Pancreatis, some leasons on her spleen & liver.Whats the best food for her?

  1. Dogs with Pancreatis need a low fat diet (10% fat or less) . A really good quality food to consider is Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Frozen Diets. You also might try Blue Buffalo Life Protection Adult Small Breed Healthy Weight (10% fat), Precise Holistic Complete Senior (9% fat), or Premium Edge Weight II Weight Control Formula (9% fat). There are others, you need to read the labels of the different products. Rather than dog biscuits, try givin g a baby carrot or two or an apple wedge (no seeds). They are healthy treats dogs usually love. If you can't get your dog to eat the food that will help her condition, try mixing in a little non-fat (or low fat) cottage cheese or cooked egg white to tempt her into eating. 3 small meals a day is better for dogs with Pancreatis.

My dog has had pancreatitis..He needs a low fat dog food...What would you suggest..Also he is 14 years old...

  1. Royal Canin LF is suppose to be the lowest in fat of the dry foods. My little Yorkie is on it for CIL. I wasn't given much hope but with the RC LF and me adding about a Tablespoon of whipped potatoes (potatoes cooked and then mixed with the water off of themselves), 1/4 tsp of fiber powder and 1/4 of a capsule of ginger with each meal, he has responded so well I have not, as yet, had to put him on any meds. Good luck with your baby.
