Selegiline is a daily medication for treatment of Cushing's disease and for the treatment of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CCDS). CCDS is an age-related neurologic syndrome characterized by various cognitive impairments such as disorientation, reduced social interaction, changes in sleep or activity patterns, and loss of housetraining. Selegiline should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule. This medication may require 8 weeks or longer to reach its full therapeutic effect. Your veterinarian may monitor closely and adjust the dosage according to your pet’s treatment plan. This medication can be given with or without food. If your pet vomits or appears unwell after receiving a dose on an empty stomach, give future doses with food or a small treat. If vomiting continues, contact your veterinarian. Selegiline should be given consistently at the same time each day. When given once per day, it is usually recommended to give the dose in the morning to dogs and in the evening/night to cats.
