Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this food for transforming dogs with severe allergies and digestive issues. Most report dramatic improvements in chronic itching, redness, and skin infections, with many describing it as life-changing after other diets failed. Reviewers highlight significant gastrointestinal improvements including resolution of chronic diarrhea and inflammatory bowel disease, with some noting their dog's first solid bowel movement within 24 hours. Dogs consistently eat enthusiastically, even previously picky eaters. A few report minor concerns like excessive thirst or weight changes, but most consider the results worthwhile.

Great allergy dog food! (We had tried them all)

MollysMom1

I wished I had found out about this dog food years ago! My girl suffered for 10 years with paw licking , raw & bleeding paw pads (environmental) ,running eyes & nostrils.. etc.. wasn't sure if it was food or environmental, I believe it was both. Vet. Recommended this dry food and we had tried them all! ....My girl would get sick of different brands after a while and would refuse to eat . She loved this! I sprinkle a , single raw beef & liver treat on top of each meal(used a cheese grater) .I highly recommend you try this to try for your dog's licking , allergies! My girl was very fussy with tastes of food and suffered from allergies!

Latest Bag of Ultamino Oily and Causing Diarrhea

AGREE 100% with the comment above. Our little malchi had been doing well until we opened the most recent bag. It's oily and she is getting diarrhea. Are there manufacturing issues that are the root cause? Please consider pulling this lot and make the necessary modifications to the recipe or the manufacturing process. It's not only us and the person who commented above, our Vet also states there are numerous complaints. Thank you.

What changed with the ultimino?

We have been feeding our 14 yo yellow lab service dog vet recommended RC ultimino for years. Suddenly he won’t eat it, he had gone the a number of days of severe diarrhea and refused to eat the food so we threw out an entire bag that was just opened and bought another bag. He will not touch it and it seems oily. He will of eat the canned food either. What’s up RC? He is the most precious thing in the world to us!

Great Food!

So far this food is working good for my Maltipoo! My dog has been having really bad GI issues since January and after different foods, this is the one he really likes and so far seems to be working the best for him, before this food, he went on hunger strikes and lost weight, now he's gaining it back, eating regularly! The food it's self doesn't smell the best, but he loves it, I have noticed too he will only eat it, if I feed it straight from the bag as opposed to a food storage container. He's also on a medication to help with the diarrhea he's been having, and since being on this food, I can use it once daily instead of twice daily!

Best for severe allergies and diet trials

MeatballsMom

I adopted Meatball in early 2016, with his severe allergies flaring for the first time the following summer. Following the advice of a veterinary dermatologist, we did both intradermal allergy testing and an elimination diet trial. Ultamino cleared his skin within days, and after unsuccessfully reintroducing various proteins, I chose to keep him on this diet indefinitely. Now as a veterinarian myself, I only recommend Ultamino for true elimination diet trials or for those dogs who just can't find relief otherwise. Meatball and I will both be Ultamino fans for life.

Best diet for multiple conditions!

I have been feeding my dog Ultamino for over 2 years. As a dog with a liver shunt, it is the only diet available that is low enough in protein while also helping to support her IBD and allergic dermatitis. Since starting the diet, her dermatitis flare ups have significantly decreased in frequency and duration! I’m so happy to have an option that fits for her!

Ultamino - treating protein losing enteropathy

I have been using Ultiimino for the past two years as treatment for protein losing enteropathy in my dog. Its consistency and palatability have been great. For most of that time it has been the primary treatment.

I’ve started multiple patients on this diet and it makes my heart smile when I see them doing better! They are not trying to lick or chew or scratch their skin off and they actually like to play!

Questions

1 - 3 of 3 Questions

My shih tzu has an excessive amount of tears and was seen by an ophthalmologist vet and received meds that did not work. It was then suggested to purchase royal canin ultamino food. Just wanted to know if the food would dry up his tears.

  1. That’s very interesting. Our dog has been on Ultamino for about three years for digestive issues. Recently he was diagnosed with chronic dry eye and is receiving medication for that. I don’t know if his dry eye is the result of his diet, but I will definitely be checking with his vet. Good luck with finding answers for your pup.
