Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this veterinary diet for transforming cats with chronic health issues like allergies, IBD, and digestive sensitivities. Most report dramatic improvements including eliminated vomiting, softer stools, healthier coats, and restored energy after trying numerous other brands without success. Many note even picky eaters eagerly consume it. However, several express frustration over recent packaging changes—reduced can size without price adjustment—and increased costs, with some considering switching brands. A few report stock shortages and rare cases of spoiled cans or digestive upset. Despite these concerns, most customers consider it a life-changing therapeutic solution.

Loves it even more than her old food.

My cat was recently diagnosed with stage II kidney disease. She is 13 years old so this was not unexpected. When my vet recommended prescription food though, my heart kind of sank. She's always been such a picky eater even for a cat. My vet gave me a couple of cans of this food to try her on. WELL! I have never seen her eat with such pleasure an gusto in 13 years. ! Seriously, she DEMANDS her breakfast, lunch and midnight snack! What is more, she seems to be feeling much better. Her eyes are bright, she seems a little more lively and while she was grooming before, she now does it with more thoroughness. She's doing well on this food. I am now optimistic that I can have a few more years with her where she feels well. BOTH of us feel so much better and I am grateful to Royal Canin for making this possible.

A Lifesaver!

My 5 yr old cat stopped being able to digest what we were feeding her about a yr ago, was throwing up everything we tried. Our vet at first recommended Hills ZD which stopped her vomiting but gave her diarrhea. Apparently that's not uncommon w ZD bc the proteins are already broken down. After several months she started throwing that up that too. This food has been a godsend! My cat loves it, no vomiting since the moment we tried it,& instantly stopped the diarrhea she was having from the ZD. She's been on it several months now & I hope they never change the formula so she can have it all her life!

Yes, I recommend this product.

OUT OF STOCK!

I am so upset and stressed out because my kitty just started eating this food after being very sick for 3 weeks and refusing everything else b/c it made her sick. Now, I the samples are done, she's finally eating on her own and now I can't find it anywhere. I heard it's because Royal Canin is changing the formula. This is so terribly upsetting for all the cats who depend on this food due to their GI Issues, including the very painful and life threatening IBD!!!!

Remedy For Senior Cats IBS

Our senior cat has IBD and was prescribed Hills Science Diet Z/D but he hates it and is allergic to everything so far. That’s 6 different vet foods. H.R. loved this P/D and it he’s tolerating this with no gastro issues. A real god send.

Expensive but worth the try

My cat has IBD, high cholesterol, renal disease, & constipation. Best food thus far to address all issues and he loves it! Down side is the cost.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Not a fit for our finicky cat

TexasGal11

Our cat expressed zero interest in this canned cat food. She is a finicky eater in general, so this did not surprise me. It was definitely worth a try but we will be stuck with her Purina dry food with hydrolyzed protein.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Keeps Changing for the Worse

It seems that every time I get a new case of this food, it is less and less palatable for my cat. The older formula in the larger cans from last year were actually good - colour was a light beige and texture had some juice to it and my cat loved it. Then when the packaging was re-formulated, the food became more brown and dryer and was somewhat tolerated by my cat with some wasted food. It was out of stock for 4-5 months on my vet store and has recently returned but to no avail - it looks and smells awful like it's gone bad, and my cat will not touch it. This is concerning because it's a prescription diet and necessary, but I started buying the Merrick Limited Ingredient Duck from the pet store and it's great. Not sure what Royal Canin is doing these days but I give no points for consistency and quality, that's for sure.
