I bought this for hiking and camping so I wouldn't have to worry about dropping the leash while carrying a heavy pack or walking around camp. It worked great on our weekend trip. It's really well made. The small is perfect for my 10 lb terrier. He is a determined walker so can pull but the stretch of the bungee section made it comfortable and the waist clip seemed to be substantial enough. I only wish the handle was up closer to the top so I could hold more firmly when needed instead of right near the harness clip.

Yes, I recommend this product.
