We've had Scoop-Free almost ever since we got our cat and it's made things incredibly useful however when going to upgrade our older model to the newer we found the new models use RFID tags to track the rake cycles and these RFID tags are only available on the disposable trays, thus making anyone who wished to use a prior reusable litter tray from the same brand unable to use it with the reusable tray. Thus forcing any owners of a prior version to go back to buying the pricier disposable trays every month. What they don't tell you is that the 175 rake count limit per RFID chip will ALSO prevent it from continuing to run too, so even if your cat doesn't use the litter box that often, or likes to poke their head in without using it out of curiosity and hypothetically starts it running without using could shorten the life of the tray and cost more in the long run. TL;DR: long time user of the brand for ease of use, reusable trays are not compatible with this and the Pro model of the new generation of boxes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cat took to it immediately, but my cat is pretty adaptable in general. It works great. Just cleaning it can be a pain, I'm limited in the area it's at, so it does make it more difficult, and having another person so help dump into a bag helps. There's a huge convenience in just dumping the carton tray. However, it was more cost-effective to purchase the metal reusable tray, so just be prepared to deal with the same. Still, it's giving our cat a clean litter box, and for that, we are happy with it.

I absolutely hate this product. As soon as I walk in the door I can smell a sour odor. Also, the rake doesn’t retract all the way back, leaving such a small space (12”) my cat can’t even turn around. I’m using baking soda and air fresheners, but it doesn’t mask the awful smell. I change the tray weekly. I’m going back to the old scoop the poop Breeze litter system. I never had odor issues with it.

I bought this at the beginning of December and I regret spending so much money on this litter box. After just one week the litter starts to stink and the majority of the clean litter gets pushed under the poo trap lid. I have to go in and stir the litter around at least once a week. The only thing I like is that it does get the poop under the trap mostly which helps with the poo smell but not the urine smell. I have a 13 year old cat and she because it is so shallow the litter goes everywhere. I do not think I would ever buy from this brand again. The only reason we are still using it is because we spent so much money on it. Not worth the money.

This thing is complete trash. I had the older version which was great and lasted for years. The new one is terrible. My 9lb cat barely fits in it. You can ONLY use their expensive, wasteful, cardboard litter trays. Don’t buy!
