Description

Dogs are good at pulling, and if you're training a sled dog team, then you're grateful for that natural ability. But since most dog parents usually go on normal walks instead of mushing, we designed the Deluxe Easy Walk Harness to counteract your dog's desire to pull. With this harness, the leash attaches at the front of your dog's chest, unlike standard collars or back-attachment harnesses which compel the pet parent to pull from behind. This means when your dog pulls forward while wearing the Easy Walk Harness, he will feel your weight from one side and will be less tempted to pull. This deluxe version differs from our standard Easy Walk Harness with added neoprene straps for cool comfort and reflector strips for night safety. This harness was created by a veterinary behaviorist and is trusted by a million dog parents and trainers each year.

  • - Most effective no-pull solution to help improve walks with your dog
  • - Designed by a veterinary behaviorist
  • - Allows full range of motion to eat, drink, pant and catch a tennis ball while wearing the headcollar
  • - Rests across your dog's nose, interrupting your dog's natural instinct to pull against pressure
  • - Durable nylon with a padded neoprene nose loop for ultimate comfort
  • - Quick-snap neck strap and adjustable nose loop for easy fitting in minutes
  • - Designed with minimal straps to keep your dog cool

Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this headcollar for eliminating leash pulling and transforming walks into enjoyable experiences. Most report immediate or rapid improvement, even with strong, large breeds, describing walks as finally manageable and peaceful. Many note previous solutions failed where this succeeded. Some mention dogs initially resist by pawing or rubbing their noses, requiring days or weeks of adjustment. A few report durability issues with plastic clips breaking or becoming loose. Despite minor concerns, most customers consider it highly effective and life-changing for daily dog walking.

Amazing transformation!!!

I’m adopted a puppy who has really been excited on our walks- and because I live in a city (and don’t have my own outdoor space) - I have to walk him 3-5 times a day. Within the first 6weeks - I injured my shoulder, foot and fingers from him pulling so much and having very little control - despite training him diligently. He also stops from almost every dog. We would come home from most walks with him coughing from all the tugging on his trachea. I also started dreading our walks because my body is suffering and it is just unpleasant to walk him. I purchased the gentle leader yesterday and have seen dramatic improvement! I’m in awe and truly grateful for this product. I’m actually looking forward for of our morning walk tomorrow!

great product, would be better if there was a wider band option for XL breed dogs.

We bought these collars for both of our large bread dogs. We dreaded walking them because they basically were walking use and dragging us. Last night, we put the collars on and went for a walk. It was so much better. I told my husband I could not wait to write a review, but he told me to wait until we tried again. Tonight we walked them again. They are so well behaved. The walks are like night and day. I already told one of our friends about it. I will be telling others that are going through the same problem. We are so grateful for this remedy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The function of this is great and had my dog to stop pulling in the leash as well and it fit perfectly fit perfectly over his face and the durability is wonderful.

This is definitely the WORST headcollar I have ever purchased. My 12 week GSD keeps escaping it and fights it constantly. Definitely returning this item to store TODAY

Extremely disappointed

Save your money! We purchased the medium size for our 50# pointer / lab mix, set it up per the instructions, got the dog acclimated to where she was comfortable. She walked fine until a neighbor approached, she instantly jumped and lunged and the plastic 'quick snap' immediately pulled apart knocking a three year old girl to the ground (fortunately she wasn't hurt but it could have been bad). I had seen reviews criticizing the plastic locking 'snap clamp' and was happy to see that they changed it to metal, now they need to do the same thing with the 'quick snap'. They claim this is for extreme pullers but it is grossly underdesigned.

You should not advertise better walks on 1st use

Purchased this product, and it has some vague instructions on the back of the box, but no detailed instructions. The front of the box says better walks on first use, with ZERO advice to acclimate or train their dog, implying you simply put in and go. This risks a traumatic experience which leads to a lot more work, as well as a very unpleasant experience that could have been avoided. Shame on you!

Mostly, it worked for us until it got a little too loose and he chewed through the lead... :-o

Questions

1 - 10 of 29 Questions

how big is the small one?will it fit a boarder collie?

  1. Thank you for asking about this! The small size fits neck sizes of 7-9", while the medium size fits neck sizes 9-14". We would recommend measuring your border collie around their neck at the highest point, directly behind the ears, then matching this measurement to the size where that measurement falls. If you have any difficulty fitting the head collar to your dog after purchasing one, please reach out to our Customer Care team. Our number is 1-800-732-2677, and our hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 7 P.M. EST.

Can it be used for bulldogs

  1. This is a great question, Misti! Though some customers have successfully used this head collar with bulldogs, individuals with very short muzzles typically do best with our Easy Walk® harness.

Will it work for my Beauceron? He's very powerful and strong, so I don't know if it'll rip if he tries to open his mouth.

  1. It doesn't hold the mouth closed. Dog is still able to eat, drink, and bark whilst wearing it. I have an 80ish lb chow mix and I've used it on him since he was almost 2yrs old and he'll be 10yrs this year. He's always been headstrong and it's the only way i walk him. It just puts gentle pressure the top of his nose and he corrects himself. I pretty much have walked with a very loose leash

Will the small gentle leader head collar fit a small 7 lb. Chihuahua mix? He has a long snout like a min pin not your regular Chih. Thanks

  1. Yes it should fit. The leash part itself offers a lot of adjustability in order to really help customize fit for your pup.

Have herd that the plastic clip under the chin breaks easily. And that it does not hold up. up. I have a 30 lb Border collie Pit bull cross. He pull very hard all the time. .Is this true.?

  1. Has not been our experience with two 50 lb + dogs who pull hard at times. Going on about 1 year dice purchase

I have a 130lb German shepherd, 2 years old & VERY difficult to control on walks. I'm trying & he's getting better together with my 50lb rescue, but still pulls HARD towards dogs & people. Will this stop him from pulling & trying to control ME on walks?

  1. I have a 90lb pitbull that also pulls hard towards others. I feel like the gentle leader helps me control him better because it controls the head, instead of the full weight of the dog if you use a regular collar leash or harness. I grab the leash closer to the leader and pull down when someone is coming close and it helps keep him from lunging. I hope this helps.

Is the nose piece padded?

  1. No.

Would this fit a 7 -10lb dog?

  1. I think the size small would work because the head strap is adjustable.  My 2 guys are 15-17 lbs. and I believe I bought smalls for them.

Would this type of muzzle help with a dog/puppy that wants to eat every rock on our walks?

  1. I believe it would because the pet parent has control of the lead, hence control of the dog.  It fits over the nose and snaps in place at the back of the neck.  With very little tugging or effort, you literally guide the dog’s head by its nose.

At what age of the dog/puppy is it recommended?

  1. I started this with puppies as young as 4 months....and older dogs (age 9).  It works really well, even if they don’t like it!
