Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this pet door for giving their pets freedom to enter and exit independently, with most highlighting the straightforward installation taking just minutes and the durable aluminum frame with magnetic flap. Many report pets adapting within hours or days and using the door multiple times daily, significantly reducing manual door opening. Reviewers consistently note the solid construction and attractive design. Some mention the factory weather stripping is inadequate for colder climates, requiring aftermarket foam additions. A few experienced compatibility issues with door track heights. Despite these minor concerns, most customers find the product highly satisfactory and worthwhile.

It was not as easy as we thought to install the pet door, but once in, works great and looks nice. Cats got used to it in a few days with our help.

Overall I consider this a good product. I agree with other reviewers that you will want to buy extra weatherstripping to use for the gap between your slider and the panel, though it’s not that big a deal. The flap works and usually catches properly. My main issue is I haven’t been able to get my cat to use the door on her own. She only goes out when I hold the flap open for her. She is 15 years old, so it is probably just harder to train such an old cat.

Unfortunately, sizing is off. Although the lg door says it accommodates Setters Poodles and Greyhounds I can assure you it does not…

Our Westie loves to go in and out at will! This was easy to install. We added some extra weather stripping just as a bonus. Really a great solution!

My dogs love the freedom of going outside whenever they want. The door fits perfectly in the slider and seems to keep the cold air outside.

Questions

1 - 10 of 63 Questions

What is the overall width of the large dog door?

  1. Thank you for asking about this, Karen! This panel is around 13 1/2" wide.

Does this pet door work on wooden patio door

  1. I don't think so. It is intended to fit into a glass slider door.

What are the dimensions of the bottom panel? Our dog is getting older and can't step over the higher risers.

  1. 4 1/2 inches

Can I buy a new door flap mine is coming apart

  1. Thank you for your great question. You can find replacement vinyl flaps for this door here: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/petsafe-replacement-flap-for-freedom-doors

Should I get large air extra large for German Shepard

  1. Thank you for your great question. To find the best size door for your dog, we recommend measuring his shoulder height and width. Compare these measurements to the sizing chart, and this will tell you which size will be best for him

My sliding height is 87 1/2 inches tall, would this patio panel fit within my sliding door?

  1. According to the Petsafe website, the panel will accommodate openings up to 80 11/16 inches.

Will the large tall work with a 140 lb Newfoundland? About 16” chest width and 28” height at shoulder?

  1. I doubt that even the X-Large door would be large enough.

Does this work with vinyl sliding glass doors?

  1. Yes, however depending on your sliding vinyl glass doors when you open the doors, the opening may be too narrow.

We have a vinyl sliding door, but are not wanting to permanently install the patio panel. Since pops into place, we thought we'd put it in when we plan to be gone for the day and take it out when we return home. Will it hurt the frame to use it this way?

  1. It’s not an easy take out and put back in type of doggie door. Matter of fact, it’s fairly difficult.

Can you put this door in place and use the door way to go in and out also .

  1. I have it in my slider and it allows us to use the sliding door and the dogs can go in and out as they need.
