The packaging is cute and the colors are appealing, but unfortunately this product wasn’t a hit in my household. The treats were extremely hard, which made me concerned about my cat potentially choking on them. I even tried softening them with water, but they remained quite firm. I also attempted mixing them into my cat’s food, but she would refuse to eat her meal whenever the treats were included. I usually trust Petco-branded products because they tend to use more natural ingredients and generally make decent food for cats, so this was disappointing. Sadly, this product just didn’t work for my cat.

We used this as a treat. The idea of it being shaped as a candy bar was cute but you still have to break it up in pieces to give it to your cat. It wasn’t easily breakable. Our one cat is finicky and turned up her nose at it but the other cat we have ate it up right away

This time, the only two options to choose from for review for the Spotted by Petco review program were both from Petco’s “Candy Shop.” I almost didn’t order either option because neither sounded like something I wanted to feed my cats. But then I thought, “I might as well go ahead and order. That’s what the Spotted by Petco program is all about- reviewing products and telling other people what you think.” So I ordered Petco’s Candy Shop Treats for Cats- Munchy Bars. They sent me some Chicken Flavor and some Tuna & Salmon Flavor. And what I think of these is they AREN’T WORTH THE RISK. I included pictures of the packaging which clearly states, “CAUTION: THIS IS A PET TREAT. Supervise pet while eating to ensure pet breaks treat down into small pieces before consuming. If it is consumed rapidly and in large pieces, there are dangers of choking or gastrointestinal blockage. Ensure your pet has access to fresh water. If treat becomes wet, color transfer may occur.” Ummmmm…. WHAT?! I have sooooo many questions. Do any of the people involved, from product concept to final delivered product, even have pets? Let alone cats? How are you supposed to ensure that your cat breaks the treat down into small pieces before swallowing? I wouldn’t recommend sticking your fingers into the mouth of any cat while it’s actively chewing on ANYTHING. And then you would have to feel around to see if the pieces are too big before they swallow? Right. Among other problems, putting your fingers in your cat’s mouth would cause more risk of making the cat choke on the food, I would think. So if you can’t ensure your kitty breaks down the treat into small enough pieces before swallowing, then you have to worry about them choking or having gastrointestinal blockage. No thanks. That said, I did break off a couple small pieces of the Tuna & Salmon Flavor bar for two of our cats (the ones that still have teeth!) and they loved it. But with all the other treats and dry food on the market, why buy something that you’re going to have to break up for your cat to safely eat? The cats don’t care about the packaging. That’s just for us humans. So that aside, you’re left with a block of a “treat” that you have to break up / cut up on a chopping block or plate before giving to your kitty. Skip the hassle AND the risk and just give a safer treat.

Very cute idea, but very messy to break into small pieces. It feels like you are breaking up a slightly melted chocolate bar. Does not smell like chicken either. My female cat turned her nose up to it. She didn't want anything to do with it. My male cat ate some, but he was very hesitant. It took my male cat four days to eat five out of six pieces, I threw the last one out. So I don't think he really likes it. They do not ask for it, they prefer their other treats. I tried it and that's all you can do, see if your cats like it.
