Can't beat the price!

Got this to add some air circulation to our daughter's baby shark tank from Walmart. Her little guppies seem to enjoy it. I really like how easy it was to set up and how you can easily change the air flow.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Awesome that everything comes together in one pack. I especially like the super quiet air pump and adjustment valve. I have a 3 gallon betta bowl and a 1 gallon bowl. Both are completely round bubble shape so it took a few minutes to find a position that the suction cups worked but I did, the suction adheres well, and the set up keeps the water very clear. The valve helps control the flow well for Bettas which prefer a slower current.

Yes, I recommend this product.

It Fits.

The air pump is amazingly quiet! And i love the adjustment valve! I disagree with the review below that stated it does not not fit in a round bowl despite the advertisement, i have a super round 1 gallon bubble bowl so i was skeptical but it does fit either vertically or horizontally, not flush of course but the suction cups are good and will hold in place. You need water in the bowl first, find the right position for your bowl, and press firmly. I have two 1 gallon Anchor Hocking betta bowls and will include photos with this review. It cleared the water in the bowl i set up horizontally fairly quickly but the other is still cloudy so i will try repositioning that one horizontally as well to see if that made the difference.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Honestly, this DOES work...for about half a year. My 2nd one just died after about the same timeframe as the first. I really love bubbler filters, and got this model originally to help my fish through a move and really liked it, but this absolutely has some sort of planned obsolescence going on with it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Does not work

This sadly does nothing for the tank. It is very cloudy water still. I also cannot find a way to open the contraption to take out the sponge.

No, I do not recommend this product.

It is a good filter not to loud. We got ot for our daughters betta. He is much more active now that his water is staying clean. The only down side is it said it works for any shaped tank and it does not stick to the side of our round tank. I had to tie a rock to the bottom of the filter so it would stay under the water and work. We are planing on getting our betta a bigger tank here next week so hopefully it will work just as well and stick to the side of the tank.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This is a highly under rated filter. I am in love. It comes with everything you need to set up including an air pump and adjustable valve to control the amount of bubbles. The highest setting can produce a lot!! They sell replacement cartridges but I cut out the plastic on the bottom near the sponge so I can just slip the sponge out, rinse in tank water, and put it back in (so you can maintain the good bacteria) the only issue I’ve had was it got clogged and the bubbles were almost non existent so I knew something was wrong. Took it out, rinsed it with my tank clean and back to new. I currently have it in a 5 gallon with one plant and a betta. I will get another one for my 20 gal to add more flow

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 18 Questions

I do not have an aquarium, however, I do have a vivarium that I keep my 6' ball python in. In it, I have a shallow stainless steel catbox that is used as his "pool". It's only about 2" deep, so my question is will this filter work for it?

  1. Short answer is no

We just bought this for our new betta. How do we know how much bubbles are enough? Right now he is swimming around but going to top quite a bit too. Afraid to have too much and afraid to have too little. Please help.

  1. Just adjusted the values till it seemed right to you, as long as the Betts fish could swim up to the top of the tank without struggling too much, fighting against the current then usually it should be good enough.

I have a 2.5 gallon tank for triops. Aka freshwater shrimp that requires I use aquarium sand. Will this filter work with sand?

Will this work for my goldfish also?

does this produce very gentle bubbles and circulation that won't traumatize bettas!

      1. Has flow adjustment valve, so you can adjust to your liking.

Do I have to use the filter with the pump I mostly just want the pump to make bubbles in one of my hermit pools

Do you completely submerge the filter unit in the water or do you leave the very top part out of the water?

        1. Thank you for your question. This is an internal filter, so it will need to be submerged in water for it to filter properly.

Where do I get the filter cartridges for the filter I don’t know where to get them

        1. These cartridges are available through several online retailers. The search parameters should be "Penn Plax SWF1C". The replacement cartridges are sold in packages of 2 replacements.

Is the filter supposed to be fully submerged? Do you take the pin out of the valve? I’m confused.

        1. Yes, submerge below water line. No, the "pin" is a knob to control air flow.

Would this filter work with a 6 gallon cylindrical aquarium? All of the other filters I have seen are so bulky and take up a lot of room at the top of the tank while not really filtering the lower parts.
