I wanted to take the time and warn other male kitty owners about something I was NOT cautious of and almost seriously hurt or even un-alived my boys. I have 2, 1.5yo male, shorthair domesticated cats. Since they were born, I have strived to get the most quality and enjoyable food I could afford on the market. 2 months ago, I switched to Nulo "Duck and Cod" recipe, then following this month, "Cat and Kitten" recipe. My super healthy, fixed with all shots, boys with no prior urinary issues began urinating blood, slowed down on eating, and overall were showing concerning signs of a blockage of some sort (Which I did not know existed prior to this). They began abnormal behavior like urinating outside of the litter box. It was more like marking in very tiny amounts which was unlike them. Thank Gosh my boy had urinated on a white shirt, and I was able to see/smell the blood and acted quick enough to get them both to the ER in time, before complete blockage. Why this is specifically related to Nulo and male cats is this brand contains high levels of magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, and ammonium which are normal to contain, but dangerous in male cats as higher levels of these nutrients form Crystals in the bladder and when your boy goes to pass them it can get backed up leading to bladder rupture (Due to having a smaller urethra then female cats). When the bladder ruptures, the kidneys act as a filter; this then affects the heart. PLEASE WATCH if your male cat is peeing. In 12-48 hours without urinating, it is then life threatening, and you need to act. In no ways am I trying to bash this company, my boys loved this food and the flavors. It is a severe warning to male cat owners like me who was lucky enough to catch it on time. Since then, they are still recovering and on a specific diet to dissolve the crystals and pain medications to ease them. If all this review does is have you more aware of your boys' frequents to the litter box, then I feel accomplished! Good luck to all your kitties!

When I saw how healthy Nulo MedalSeries indoor recipe was, I was interested in seeing how she’d like it. I chose the duck and cod flavor since she loves fish. When it arrived, Midnight came right over to the bag, smelled it, rubbed her face on it, and then headed over to her food plate. I gave her a small cup full first to test it out. Midnight immediately started eating it, and the kibble was very easy for her to chew. She’s loved it ever since! I’m so happy to see her enjoying a new food! What drew me to trying Nulo MedalSeries for Midnight was the ingredients. It’s formulated specifically for meeting the nutritional needs of indoor cats. The ingredients in here are great, and I’m always cautious what I give my animals and I was so happy to know this was a clean high protein food for them. It doesn’t have too strong of scent so I never notice it. The size of the pebbles are perfect for the small mouths of cats and helps them digest easier. My cats have been doing great with this food and it has improved them from the occasional vomiting after meals. As you can see the cats recognize the bag and know its meal time! Yum!

The kibble itself is small and very easily edible pieces which minimises choking risk. Both my cats seem to enjoy it although they are not fussy when it comes to dry food in general. But they are both as excitable as usual when they hear the automatic feeder dispense it! I think the value for money is reasonable and I would definitely consider purchasing this again for them. The smell of the food is as expected, not unpleasant or anything.

My cats immediately started eating it without acting like they weren’t sure about it. One of our cats just had a baby that didn’t survive after a tough pregnancy. She’s a very small cat and we are giving her lots of TLC. I think this food is perfect for her as she recovers and gains back her strength. I recommend trying this cat food.
