Customers are divided on these door guards. Many praise their protective function, noting they effectively prevent scratches, drool stains, and claw damage, especially for large dogs. However, a substantial portion report frustration with the attachment system—plastic tabs are too short or flimsy to stay secure during normal window operation, causing guards to fall out frequently. Some customers resort to DIY fixes like additional Velcro or duct tape to make them usable. A few report no issues. Overall, the product concept works well, but the attachment mechanism undermines its reliability for active pet owners.

I bought the Kurgo Rover Car Door Guards specifically because the instructions highlight an "Option B" installation method using adhesive Velcro strips to secure the guard without inserting anything into the window channel. However, upon opening the box, the required adhesive Velcro strips were completely missing! After doing some research, I found that many other customers have reported this exact same issue, noting that the product has the Velcro patches sewn on the back but doesn't actually come with the adhesive tape for the car door. Because they fail to include these crucial parts, you are forced to use "Option A", which requires sliding rigid plastic tabs between the window and the door seal. If you have premium window tints (like nano-ceramic), DO NOT use these tabs! The hard plastic rubs directly against the glass and will permanently scratch and ruin your expensive tint when the windows are rolled up or down. It is incredibly deceptive to advertise a secondary installation method and then leave the consumer to go buy their own heavy-duty Velcro strips at a hardware store just to make the product usable and safe for their vehicle. I do not recommend this product unless you are prepared to spend extra money and time finding your own installation materials to save your car's window tints.
