Ketoconazole is used for the treatment of serious fungal infections. It may also be used against some yeast and dermatophyte (ringworm) infections. Please note: This is a generic medication. Ketoconazole Tablets should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Consult your vet before changing or stopping the schedule and ask how to best align it with your pet's diet. Give this medication with food to boost absorption and reduce stomach upset. High-fat foods like cheese or cream cheese are ideal for enhancing absorption. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, avoid handling this medication. If handling is necessary, wear gloves and use extreme caution. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling, even if gloves are worn. For infections, treatment may take weeks or months. Do not skip doses and administer the complete course as prescribed, even if your pet's condition improves. Failure to finish the treatment may cause recurrence or worsen the infection. Contact your veterinarian ahead of time if your pet needs a refill.
