Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this alfalfa hay for its appeal to young rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas, noting pets become excited and enthusiastic when introduced. Many highlight its effectiveness for picky eaters, with reviewers reporting pets "gobbling it up" and refusing other hays afterward. The convenient mini bales are frequently used as treats or transitional food. However, a notable group reports receiving dry, brown, or straw-heavy batches that pets refused, with some noting quality has declined compared to previous purchases. Despite these inconsistencies, most customers consider it highly effective for young pets.

Customer Care

Hi there. Thank you for sharing your feedback. Our team is pleased to know they enjoy this hay and show excitement when fresh portions are provided. We appreciate your review and value your support.

I took advantage of the buy one get one free deal and like other reviewers mentioned it was dry and brown. The second bag was better but still not fresh like other brands. They must have had a huge bad batch and still sold it to consumers. Very disappointed. The dust also gave my bunny a red eye.

No, I do not recommend this product.

We are very sorry to hear that both bags of Kaytee Natural Alfalfa Hay did not meet your expectations. We understand how disappointing it is to receive hay that appears dry, brown, and less fresh than expected, especially when you purchased multiple bags. While hay is a natural agricultural product and some variation in color and texture can occur, we take your concerns about product quality and excessive dust seriously. We are particularly concerned to hear that your bunny developed eye redness, and we recommend consulting a veterinarian if the irritation persists or worsens. We appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention and would like the opportunity to investigate further. Please contact Kaytee Consumer Care at 1-800-529-8331 or visit https://www.kaytee.com/about/contact-us so our team can gather additional product details and assist you directly. <img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/stratos-logos/logos/Kaytee.png" alt="Kaytee" title="Kaytee" style="display: block !important; margin-top: 2em !important; border: 1px solid #ccc !important; padding: 2px !important; background-color: white !important;" />

My bunny wasn't eating her hay and this was a concern for her gut health. is still under a year so I thought I would try this and she loved it and it got her back to eating regular hay. This brand is not the best but she seems to prefer it over higher end brands.

Yes, I recommend this product.
