This is a mediocre product. They cheaped out nearly everywhere they could (my only real positive note is the slow-close door hinges, which keep it from slamming and startling my fish). The tube connecting the filter pump to the output isn't quite long enough to span the depth of the tank, so the tube is only barely secured on either end. The so-called "lid" is two featureless panels of glass that aren't wide enough to cover the entire top from back to front, and have no handles or hinge to connect them. The cabinet door has no handle or indention to make it easy to open either. But the biggest issue is that the instructions for putting the stand together are absolutely abysmal. I've assembled dozens of flat-pack furniture items and this is literally the first time I've ever had to toss the instructions aside and just wing it. Fortunately it's not a complicated piece of furniture and I was ultimately able to figure it out on my own, but the lack of labeled pieces and the poorly drawn and worded instructions made it far more difficult than it needed to be. It didn't even specify which side of the cabinet was left or right, and which side the door hinges needed to be on. And no, it's not immediately obvious when you look at it either, because most of the pieces looked like they could be flipped 180 degrees and still work. It was a mess. Then I hit the same issue when putting the tank together -- I still don't know the proper way to install/layer the filter media. The tank instructions provide ZERO guidance on what goes where. I've searched the web including an image search and youtube and there's nothing to be found. So I'm going to have to wing that too. At the end of the day it seems like it'll hold water and fish, but if that's the highest praise I can give an $800 setup, that's pretty sad.

Posting to help others , If your door isn't lining up, there's usually a screw you can adjust with a Philips head screwdriver to fix it. This is because the holes aren't always drilled perfectly, and everyone screws things in a bit differently.

I initially had an awful review of this tank. Not because of the tank but because of the stand. The instructions for this tank are almost nonexistent. Sure there are pictures but nothing is numbered so that leaves you guessing which piece is which. Not only that but the holes for the door hinges absolutely do not line up. I had to make my own holes and the door doesn’t shut all the way. I bought magnets to at least keep the door shut. Other than that, it seems very sturdy and holds the tank well. The tank on the other hand is wonderful! It is pretty and sleek. It also had no issues clearing up after I added the sand and water so that leads me to believe the pump is pretty great. I also love the black out panel on the back so you don’t have to look at all of the u slightly aquarium additions you may want to add (heater, skimmer, etc.) I love the glass top as well. The only thing I would say is don’t fill the tank too full because the filter sock will float and the water doesn’t flow directly into it. After I took some water out, the tank cleared within an hour. Oh yea.. one thing the website doesn’t mention is that you get two bags of carbon and two bags of ceramic bio balls with this tank. That was a good addition! All in all I am pleased so this is my updated review from my one star review after being so irritated with the stand. I have always loved JBJ and have never had any issues.

First.. I haven’t even gotten the tank. FedEx didn’t deliver it with the stand. I’m just going to say right now, the instructions are absolute trash.. and the holes don’t line up for the hinges.. after making my own holes, the door doesn’t even shut right. I just hope it holds the tank. I wish I had done a little more research into this tank because right now I am skeptical. I wish I had taken pictures too of the holes where the hinges went. I cannot believe this thing was so badly made. I previously owned a JBJ nano cube and it was perfect so this one is unacceptable and far from the nano cube quality. I never leave bad reviews but right out the gate not being able to correctly follow the directions is a no go for me. The pieces aren’t number either like most things you buy. We will see how it holds up when I finally get the tank but right now I am absolutely irritated with this thing.
