Rinse and wipe down all parts with a clean, soft towel prior to first use. Assemble and check for any broken parts. Frequent inspection, removal and cleaning of all parts is recommended for optimal functionality. Unplug prior to any cleaning or mainenance. Don't listen to the bad reviews
Not sure why there's so many bad reviews. I have a 3gal shrimp tank and this thing is even quieter than air pump + sponge filter and it actually does something. I read that the filters it comes with can be a money trap so I used my own sponges and there's enough room to put in other media as well. You really need to prime the pump before it start working well. I'm so happy with this purchase and it saved me money!!

Highly recommend
This is a great pump. I have it on my 5 1/2 gallon tank, which includes a betta, mystery snail and two ghost shrimp. The pump is not loud at all. I’ve been using it for almost a year, and I highly recommend. I don’t use the carbon cartridges. I use a piece of a mesh sponge and the fluvall bio balls instead. I also use Seachem Prime. My tank is very clean.

Great value
I've had this running on a 3 gallon planted tank for about 6 months now. Im not sure why people say its noisy, you literally can't here it running. It does take a little bit to prime and get all the air bubbles out but once all the air out its silent. As far as replacement cartridges, I'm not sure about that. I just run it with a little filter fiber. Plants take care of the rest. I just purchased another for a 1 gallon tank. I would recommend this filter for anything up to 5 gallons.

Don’t buy
I bought the his filter a couple weeks ago and it’s now time to change the filter cartridge… oh wait they don’t sell or make the coconut carbon filter cartridge for the mini imagitarium filter ANYWHERE. Size Small is to large. Not even Petco sells them. Don’t sell an item that you cant provide parts for. Would recommend if you want to waste your time and money!

Quiet and works in saltwater tank. I recommend. Not sure why reviews would be bad when it is covered in salt and works perfectly. My fish love swimming in bubbles it creates too

Too noisy!
This filter came with the 2.5 gallon aquarium and it’s so noisy. Not sure what to do about the noise but I wouldn’t recommend.

Overheated My Grow-Out Tank To 88 Degrees!
I bought this a little while ago for my 5-gallon tank, and it worked great for a while. When you start it up it's a little loud but after it runs pretty quietly. My only issue is that recently it started to make a lot of noise, and when I went over to see what was going on, the tank was warm to the touch. The filter had overheated and made the water 88 degrees. Thank god it wasn't in with any of my fish at the time, but it did kill off some of the plants in my grow-out tank. I don't know if it was just my filter with this issue but I'd be careful and find a safer one.

Why is the waterline so high??? My 5 gal tank has to be full to the absolute top to reach the “minimum” water line……any ideas how can I extend the intake tube?? I’m prob gonna have to return this so I don’t have to add water to my tank every 2 days
- The minimum water line will be about one inch (maybe 1.5 inches) from the top of the tank. If yours is really all the way to the top, is it possible that the intake tube isn’t properly seated all the way into the filter housing?

It screams really loud? How to I get it to stop!???
- Is it properly primed? Is water flowing out of it? If not, you need to prime it. (I use a turkey baster and squirt water inside the filter chamber to make sure there’s enough water inside to create a good water flow. It takes me 12-15 full basters of water to get it primed).

I’m seeing comments saying there is no filter cartridge replacement. What size coconut filter cartridge is compatible with this? It isn’t listed in the manual. Is the small too large for the mini filter?
