I have a new single sponge filter in a 6-gallon tank using a Tetra air pump, and it’s producing a lot more bubbles than expected. Is this normal, or is the pump too strong for the tank?
- Hi, It is normal for the Imagitarium IN-FIL 10 Sponge Filter to produce a high volume of bubbles in a compact tank, as the filter’s flow rate is dependent on the air pump's volume, and even a small pump can create significant surface agitation in a 6-gallon tank. To reduce excessive turbulence while maintaining efficient filtration and oxygenation, an air control valve installed in the airline tubing between the pump and the filter can manually restrict airflow.
