Tannins like crazy, and I love it
Purchased a large piece for my 30 gal long tank and I love it! Those concerned about the tannins should educate themselves on types of aquarium wood for their intended purpose. This is mopani, it’s loaded with tannins and used for that black water tank look. If you want a clear tank, get spider wood.

Softwood
Just purchased yesterday. Inspected it as best I could in the store thru the plastic. It was a decent size and felt fine. Got it home and started to scrub it with a toothbrush and it fell apart in my hands. Definitely a softwood. Don’t purchase these. Spend the extra money and get mopani from reputable aquarium store. Or at least verify it’s made with hardwood first.

Chemical odor
Purchased in store, the item was double wrapped in plastic. Upon opening, the odor from the drift wood had a VERY strong chemical odor. I returned same day, easily, and purchased a z.. m.. driftwood that had no odor. Same-ish price.

Great value, much larger than expected
These release a lot of tannins, which is fine, but not my preferred look. I ended up having to boil it repeatedly for about half the day for the smaller. I did order a “large” as well and it ended up being MASSIVE and took up almost my entire 20 gallon tank. It’s a lot of driftwood for the price. I wasn’t able to boil the large one but used purigen to clear up the tannins quickly. Definitely recommend this product, it’s a good value for such a large piece.

Beautiful Drift Wood
Beautiful drift wood! I ordered this online and wasn’t sure what I would get, but was pleasantly surprised! It’s a fair size, packaging was fantastic, and after a quick soak - it was in my tank and my shrimp are loving it and all its cervices.

Misleading
It certainly isn’t large, that is misleading. This is adequate for a 5 gallon tank, I can’t imagine placing it in a tank larger than that.

Brown tannin water!
I boiled this wood for two hours yesterday, followed by a 12 hour soak overnight. I’m currently on my third hour of boiling. Do not buy this wood, I’m seriously upset especially given the price!!

Does this driftwood turn the water brown?
- Hi txaggies, Good day! This driftwood does release tannins when its first introduced to the tank, over time they will dissipate. We recommend pre soaking in a bucket outside of the tank if tannins are not desired. Thanks,
