Great thank for live plants/shrimp only
Recently bought this a week ago, wish I read the reviews. Mine came a little damaged. The acrylic cylinder was scratched up, updated the filter and realized the tank is too small for tetras or a Betta Fish. These are great for live plants and shrimp. You’ll need a plant light, the light that comes with it is useless. Our plants started dying within a week and bought an actual plant life for the tank. This will end up being a live plant with shrimps only.
Would not recommend this tank as a starter for Betta Fishes, they like long tanks and love to swim.

I bought this tank about a month and a half ago and it has to be cleaned every 6 days! The filter also has to be changed at least every two weeks. This is not the experience I have had with fish tanks in the past. I do not recommend this product at all, it is too much work when it shouldn’t be.

Unfortunately I missed the return window by a week. This tank requires weekly cleaning even with the filter. I don’t recommend it.

Too small for a Betta
Bettas require at least a 5 gallon tank with filter and heater and live plants. This would be a good shrimp tank.

Perfect starter kit, shape is a little distorting
Received this as a gift. It has almost everything you need to get started. My betta seems happy in it though I will eventually upgrade to a larger tank for him. Plus I am not in love with the cylindrical shape because it does distort the view a bit and makes it hard to see a lot at once like you would with a comparably sized rectangular tank.
Things you need to purchase separately: substrate (gravel/sand), plants (preferably live), decor, a 15W heater (Bettas like it warm), thermometer, and air pump + air stone/bubbler. Don't forget to condition the water first and ideally let it cycle for a few weeks so beneficial bacteria can build up. You don't want to shock your fishy pal as soon as you introduce it!
We keep this on the kitchen counter and our Betta seems very curious and interactive, so I'd say he likes watching us through it as much as we enjoy watching him!

While the tank was beautiful my single betta fish only lasted 2.5 weeks & then it died. I’m going to get a 4 gallon tank that comes with a heater & try again.

I just got a fish tank and the filter isn’t working. We changed the water level and tried everything but it won’t work. How do I fix it
- Hi, To fix the filter on your Imagitarium Plastic Cylinder Betta Aquarium (SKU: 3865958), first ensure the unit is "primed" by manually pouring water into the filter chamber until it is full before plugging it in. If the motor hums but no water moves, the magnetic impeller (the small spinning fan) may be stuck; unplug the filter, remove the pump cover, and gently flick the blades or clear any debris with a pipe cleaner to restart it. Additionally, check that the water level meets the "minimum" line on the filter housing, as these internal pumps require full submersion to create the suction needed to cycle Thanks.

How does the filter work? How do I know if it’s on?
- It is very quiet. You see a little stream of water flow out the top of the filter. I don’t fill the tank to the top.I leave about 2 inches before the top of the tank. My students even check and say “ the filter is not on” because it’s so quiet. Overall, it does the job.

Do I need a heater for my betta fish in this tank?
- Hi, While the Imagitarium Plastic Cylinder Betta Aquarium includes an internal power filter and LED lighting, it does not come with a heater. Since bettas are tropical fish that require stable water temperatures between 78°F and 80°F, a small submersible heater is strongly recommended to prevent lethargy and illness. For this 2.5-gallon plastic tank, a low-wattage heater (7.5W to 15W) specifically designed for small volumes is ideal. Thanks.

Is there a stronger filter compatible with this tank? I can’t get past 10 days without the tank looking like it needs a water change and new filter cartridge. I only have 1 betta.

I just set up the tank today and am letting it cycle before putting our fish in. Water is streaming out of the filter, but the entire filter chamber is full of water. Is this how it should look? It is quite different from our filter on our current tank.

How do I know the filter is working properly? I can feel it making a slight humming sound. But no water is coming out of the opening? Just barely set it up tonight to let it run for 24 hrs before replacing my beta fish.
