Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this prescription diet for dramatically improving their dogs' liver health and quality of life, with many describing it as life-saving. Reviewers consistently report measurable drops in liver enzymes, regained weight, restored energy, and extended lifespan, especially for small breeds with chronic liver conditions. Most dogs eagerly accept the food, with strong palatability noted across reviews. However, some customers report that the new formula's shift to chicken flavor affected acceptance for dogs previously on pork-based versions, and a few experienced adverse reactions like diarrhea or allergic responses. Despite these concerns, most consider the health benefits transformative.

Good but could be better

I like the higher calorie and protein content relative to the competing product however the palatability and consistency of the canned version is poorer. I do like the smaller kibble size than the competing product as it fits in my dog's puzzle toys and slow feeder and the other does not. The cost is burdensome relative to my prior SD maintenance diet. Chosen specifically for copper storage disease

When my pup had to get emergency foreign body surgery, this food helped keep his stomach healthy while he recovered. Highly recommended by all vets i’ve worked with!

The texture of this meal is wonderful, and it is very convenient for my pet, who is corrently a bit frail, it has really added to the inconvenience of my dogs meal.

OMG no! I not only got the wet liver care, but I also got the dry. I mix them together. She somehow manages to lick off all the wet food and spit the kibble out. She absolutely refuses it. The vet said eventually, she will get hungry and eat it. Well she went on a two day hunger strike. The wet food what can I say about the wet food except for it is like compacted sawdust. Like the driest thanksgiving stuffing that you have ever had.It is harder than a rock, but brittle at the same time. You can’t even crush it up with a fork. I had to get my husband to do it because it is that hard. Now I am stuck with very expensive food and probably having to have to buy another brands very expensive food for liver care. But this I’m almost speechless at the consistency of the wet food and the dry kibble she absolutely hates.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We are disappointed to hear that we did not get your dog’s taste of approval. While we strive to create foods which are palatable and acceptable to all pets and pet parents, we recognize that preferences may vary. Dry and crumbly canned product can be the result of exposure to very cold temperatures during transportation and distribution. However, we want to assure you this consistency variation has no effect on the nutritional value of the food.

Worth a try if your dog has liver disease

I have been feeding l/d to a 12.5 year old ( young) ACD with liver disease for 2 years. Although her liver values have not changed much in the same amount of time with medication & supplements I believe the l/d will help her quality & quantity of life. The food is consistent but I don't like the color.

Smaller bags!

I’m on my 2nd dog who has required this diet, and neither would eat this without canned food over it, or broth. Don’t think much can be done to make hepatic food more flavorful though. I do, however, wish they would offer this in SMALLER BAGS (!), and smaller bite sizes for very small dogs.
