Customers say

Customers are deeply divided on these treats. Most praise them as medically essential for dogs with allergies, digestive issues, or strict dietary needs, with many describing them as life-changing and noting veterinarians recommend them. Dogs actively seek them out and show improved health. However, many reviewers report the treats have become dangerously hard since a recent recipe change, making them difficult or impossible for dogs to chew, especially seniors and small breeds. Additionally, customers express frustration over frequent stock unavailability and inconsistent restocking, disrupting their pets' care routines. Despite strong loyalty from those whose dogs benefit medically, widespread concerns about texture and access have eroded trust.

My dogs beg for these treats

My dogs love these. I just have to be careful to not give them too many! 🥴I break them into pieces to help my dogs feel as though they are receiving more than they actually are. My only hope is that they can make them smaller.

Must taste delicious!

I have owned three different Boston Terriers, including one that is extremely picky, and they have all loved these treats. For the life of me, I do not understand it; the treats are hard as a rock and I frequently have to use a mallet to break them into smaller pieces for my dogs. But they LOVE LOVE LOVE the treats so much that I feed them to all the dogs even though only one of the dogs needs it for medical reasons. You can offer my female a Beggin' Strip and she won't even pick it up. But a hypo treat? Better protect your fingers!

My dog loves them ,but they are so hard and big she has trouble eating them. It would be great if you would come out with a tiny version for small dogs.

Treats for Everyone!!

Hypo Treat review

LOVE these treats on so many levels! As a mom of a dog with IBD - These are compatible with his diet restrictions... and he loves them. As an Internal Medicine Technician - I keep a stash for all our patients. Its a treat that EVERYONE can have no matter their disease process. As picky as some patients can be about treats in general as well as treats at the Vet office; the Hypo treats are usually the biggest winner as far as palatability and crunch vs other prescription hydrolyzed protein treats.

Quality defect - Non-uniform bones sizes, some very thick

Olivier54

I regularly buy your treats for my dog, and he loves them. However, on the last purchase occasion I noticed the size of the bones is highly inconsistent, from a few very small to a lot of very thick ones, compared to the usual uniform and relatively thin bones. I believe quite a few in the bag this time are too big for my small dog (King Charles), and risk either chocking or tooth/gum damage. I wanted you to know about it so you can adjust your manufacturing process to ensure uniformity. My guess is that the treats I received this time came from a bag with products at the beginning of a run where inconsistency can be expected before reaching uniformity (just a guess). I obviously took pics that I can share if it helps.

Consumer Affairs
We are dissapointed to hear of your experience. We aim to deliver the same high-quality, consistent pet food with every purchase, though some normal variation in kibble size can occur and does not affect nutrition or safety. For each dry product, we set strict kibble size ranges and check size multiple times every 30 minutes during production. You may see size differences between bags because the food can be made at different plants with slightly different equipment. In addition, a worn die plate can produce slightly larger kibbles, while a new die plate can produce slightly smaller kibbles.

Questions

1 - 1 of 1 Questions

Why are these treats so hard to find????

  1. I think it’s production and shipping due to pandemic. I get them at my veterinarian now cause my automatic delivery from Petco doesn’t have them right now. They are difficult to get otherwise so check with your vet. Good luck!
